Toy Story 4 Director Set to Helm Animated Transformers Prequel

The director of Toy Story 4 is set to take the reigns of Paramount’s animated Transformers prequel. Deadline reports that Josh Cooley has been tapped to direct the upcoming film, which will be set on Cybertron and will revolve around Optimus Prime and Megatron’s relationship.

Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who wrote Ant-Man and the Wasp, wrote the script for the film. This is Cooley’s second film as a director; his first, Toy Story 4, won Best Animated Film at the Oscars. The prequel film is separate from the path of the live-action franchise, with a new direct Transformers sequel as well as a Bumblebee sequel are still in the works.
