Update On Jay Leno Following Severe Burns Hospitalization
A new report has an update on Jay Leno after his hospitalization for severe burns. As reported, Leno was taken to the hospital following a gasoline accident in his garage after one of the cars “erupted into flame.” According to People, Leno is recovering from surgery due to second- and third-degree burns.
Dr. Peter Grossman spoke during a press conference and noted that Leno’s injuries are serious, but that he is in good condition. The report contains more details on the incident, noting that Leno was working on a steam engine under a car when a fire began. Leno was pulled from the car and suffered “significant” facial, chest and hand burns.
Grossman said that Leno had a surgical excision and grafting procedure to the areas and has undergone a “very aggressive” hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Grossman said that “Some of the burns to the face are a little deeper and a little more concerning,” noting that Leno is in good spirits and that another procedure will be done later this week.
Grossman said, “Currently, there’s no evidence of nerve damage. I do anticipate him making a full recovery. Whether they’ll be remnants of this injury, it’s still too early to tell. I’d say that his injuries are serious, his condition is good.”
Leno said in a statement to People, “I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet.”
