411’s NWA TNA Report 06.02.04

June 3, 2004 | Posted by Larry Csonka

Welcome to THE BEST DAMN TNA RECAP of the 6-2-04 show for 411wrestling.com. I am your party host Larry Csonka! Who’s that, the new guy is still here? Indeed my friends, not only am I still here, but Eric S. even talked about my penis in his column! If that isn’t street cred, I don’t know what is. Thanks Eric!

Well, a little more background for you. Besides being a former teacher, the stay at home dad and Choir Director of my church, I have had the pleasure of being an Indy Jobber the last few years. I did some shows here in North Carolina until late December, when I was hit by a car and tore my left leg up. Still in my recovery stage, and hope one day to return to my curtain jerker status at least one last time.

Most embarrassing moment: I slipped off the top rope and got the always inspiring “YOU F*CKED UP CHANT.”

Greatest Moment: Jobbing to the Rock and Roll Express.

For my style, I recap on the fly and do my best to catch as much as humanly possible. I don’t do star ratings, not my thing. I have a good time, and yes I really enjoy TNA as well as the WWE and mostly all wrestling. So sit back and relax and enjoy The Best Damn TNA Recap!

We are coming off of the HOT World X Cup show from last week, which if you didn’t see it I highly recommend it. In a time when the WWE seems to not care about the Cruisers, here in TNA href=”http://www.twtf.com/index.php?cat=wrestling&act=articles&id=670″>X marks the spot.

BG James and Konnan tell us not to steal cable, or they will send you a copy of their self-sung entrance music!

Video package of the last few weeks, and what led to tonight’s Title matches.

Scott D’more and his guys from Team Canada arrive to take out Jerry Lynn.

Tenay and West welcome us to the Asylum!

We are hot off of last week’s HOT World X Cup show, and this week we get the King of the Mountain Match for the NWA Heavyweight Title, as well as a Tag Title match and an X Division Title match.

Match #1 Petey Williams and Bobby Rude w/ Scott D’more vs. Jerry Lynn and Heavy Metal

Team Canada is pissed because they are sore losers. Rude and Lynn to start. Rude talks some smack, and they shove back and forth. Rude kicks away at Lynn, Lynn hits the ropes and gets a nice RANA and kicks away at Rude. Lynn boots Rude in the face, tries a tornado DDT, but Rue stops him. Rude tries a slam, reverses into a reverse DDT and a 2 count. Tag to Metal, who drops a quick elbow on Rude. Rude back up and tags Williams and Metal gets a nice drop kick 1. Slam and tag back to Lynn. Williams rakes the eyes of Lynn, off the ropes and a tilt a whirl by Lynn. Williams with a sunset flip, Lynn stops him, and drop kicks Ruse off of the apron than tosses Williams to the floor as well. Tag to Metal, who poses in the ring while the Canadians regroup. Williams back in finally, and Metal takes him down. Off the ropes, blind tag to Rude, and a solid spear to Metal by Rude. Shoulder blocks in the corner by Rude, and then punches Metal down. Under hook suplex gets 2 for Rude. Rude pulls up Metal as the ref is distracted and Williams off the top with a Steiner Brothers like Bulldog combo for 2! Williams taunts Lynn, and Rude chokes out Metal. Tag back to Rude, they double-team Metal, then Williams tags back in. Metal gets a drop kick and was very close to a tag, but Williams stops him. Rude with a rear choke on Metal, Metal fights up, but Rude gets a suplex and stops him from tagging Lynn again. Lynn tried to get in, but the Canadians double team Metal some more. Williams in now, Metal gets a snap mare, and a lame hot tag as Metal walks over. Lynn is a ball of fire though, sit out power bomb by Lynn gets 2 on Williams. Off the ropes, and D’more trips Lynn up,, Williams tries the Canadian Destroyer, but Lynn gets the KRYPTNITE KRUNCH for 2! Metal gets a flip dive onto Rude on the floor, as D’more attacks Lynn, Lynn tries the cradle pile driver, but Eric Young hit the ring and nails Lynn with the Hockey stick, and Williams pins Lynn at 9 minutes. They beat down Lynn and Metal until Team TNA makes the save.

Good opener, as they really worked well together. If anything, Heavy Metal drug the match down with his very lazy “hot” tag. I hope they can sign some of these Canadian guys though, because they are great.

Scott Hudson explains the King of the Mountain Match. 3 refs, 1 in the ring, 1 at the penalty box and Russo to keep the order. Chris Harris joins Hudson. He says tonight all the pieces are in place. He says avoid the being pinned, and he will win the match. He says Storm and Dusty will win as well.

Match #2 “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown vs. “The Ace in the Hole” Sonny Siaki

Brown attacks Siaki right away. He takes Siaki to the corner and just pummels him. He charges Siaki but eats a boot. Spinning elbow by Siaki, then a stiff straight kick takes Brown to the floor. Brown is pissed. Brown tries to get back in, but Siaki keeps knocking him off the apron. Brown into the crowd, and challenges Siaki to follow. He does and they fight in the crowd. Brown gains control, and flap jacks Siaki on the bleachers. OUCH! Brown just beats on Siaki as the ref tries to check on him. The ref tells him to get back in the ring, and Brown picks up Siaki. Crowd pretty vocal against Brown. Siaki is sent face first into the steel railing. Then again and Brown picks him up, and rolls him in the ring. Brown covers and gets 2. He starts to work the ribs of Siaki, then the kidneys with punches. Now he chokes Siaki over the 2nd rope. Back to the center of the ring, back suplex by Brown, then a butterfly suplex for 2. Off the ropes, and Siaki presses him up, and gets a botched Samoan drop and both men are down. Back up, and Siaki fires back with right.then a clothesline by Siaki. Slaps and chops by Siaki. Off the ropes, flipping neck breaker to Brown. Standing switch by Brown, of the ropes now and Brown gets the Pounce for the win @ 7:06.

Swinger and Gilbertti are in the ring now, they have a coconut. How original. They have a grass skirt, and the flowered necklace and dress up Siaki. They beat him down until Pat Kenney arrives for the save. The crowd could care less. Now they pop as Kenny whips they with a belt, but Trinity is in and distracts him. Desire is out, CAT FIGHT (TM Joey Styles)! She whips Trinity and the faces clear the ring.

Average match. Brown keeps improving, and they brawled a lot to hide his weaknesses. The crowd was lively, so it wasn’t horrible.

Scott Hudson with AJ Styles. AJ says he is the favorite in this match. Why, the LADDER! He is a founding member of the X Division, and is used to no limits. The ball is in his court. Raven is out. He calls AJ white trash. He is the master of Strategy. Raven says it is simple, eliminate the guys before the match, and he attacks AJ! The Black Shirt Security is there to break it up.

X Division video package, about the Best of 3 series that led to tonight’s title match.

Match #3 The Amazing Red vs. Frankie “The Future” Kazarian ©

Lock up to start, and Kazarian shoves him off. Lock up again, and Kazarian hip tosses Red, and poses. Again, and Kazarian pushes him to the corner then slaps him. Off the ropes, arm drag by Red, and another. Throws Kazarian to the corner, Kazarian pushes him off, the both try a drop kick, and Kazarian goes to the floor. Red hits the ropes, and hits a HUGE SENTON TO THE FLOOR! Red up and goes to the apron, RANA to Kazarian. Crowd HOT for these guys! Red back in, and Kazarian climbs back in, and nails Red. He springs in, and MISSES A DDT. Kazarian gets an overhead suplex variation to slow Red down. Rear choke to Red, and Kazarian is now in control. Red tries to fight up, and does with some back elbows but Kazarian takes him back down. Hard whip to the corner by Kazarian and he follows with a dropkick in the corner for 2. Kazarian whips Red again, charges and eats Red’s boot. Red tries a tornado DDT, spins around but Kazarian gets a Nothernlights Suplex for 2! He chokes Red over the top rope, tosses him down and goes up top. Big Leg drop off the top for 2. Red off the ropes, Kazarian misses a kick and Red gets a springboard tornado DDT! They fight to their feet, Red fires away with punches, then a clothesline to Kazarian. Back body drop, Kazarian goes to the ropes, rolls through on Red, Red to the 2nd rope, and a flying Flatliner to Kazarian for 2! Red reverses off the ropes and gets the Code Red for 2! Drop kick to Kazarian in the corner, Kazarian rolls him up and gets the ropes but Red got out! Enziguri by Red, Red Star Press gets 2! Kazarian tries to toss Red out, but red gets the 718. Red goes for a spring-board, but Kazarian shoves him off, then nails the Wave of the Future for the win @ 9:45.

Very good match. A lot of fun from bell to bell, as they really mesh well. They have been able to balance the high flying with solid mat work and psychology which makes for a good match.

Video package of David Young losing to D Ray 3000. Scott Hudson is with D Ray. He gets a chance at a TNA contract in a “Gut Check” match. If he wins against an unknown opponent, he gets a contract. He is worried, because he doesn’t know whom he is wrestling. He says David Young needs the Gut Check, because he is the one losing around here.

Match #4 D Ray 3000 vs. Abyss (Gut Check Challenge)

Poor D Ray, dude looks like he wet himself. He tries to attack Abyss, but literally bounces off of him. Abyss goes to chop him, but takes Ray’s hair pick. Ok. Ray tries to chop down the monster, but Abyss shoves him off and chops him down. Ray off the top, Abyss catches him for a choke slam, but D Ray BITES HIM! HAHAH! Clothesline by Ray, shook off by Abyss, then Abyss kills him with one of his own. Huge corner splash by Abyss, then sends Ray to the steel post. Abyss has him up, Torture Rack Bomb. Goldi makes her appearance to “She’s a ho” chants. Nice. She demands Abyss punishes him and he does with a Black Hole Slam for the win @ 3:12.

She has a brief case full of money, and is going to put a dollar in Ray’s mouth but Eric Watts is here. He and Abyss continue the world’s worst feud. Poor Abyss, the dude has so much potential. Security is out, and they take Watts and the briefcase out.

Squash match, that is all that needs to be said.

Scott Hudson with James Storm and Dusty Rhodes. Storm says they need to stop running their mouth. Dusty says he is honored to be here in TNA. Dusty did more research, and Kash and Dallas still aren’t the best tag team of all time.

Russo is yelling at Watts. He says to go home to his wife, and to give him the briefcase. Goldi is out to yell more. She wants this thing settled. I can agree with that.

Video history of Kash and Dallas vs. Storm and Dusty.

Match #5 Kid Kash and Dallas © vs. “Cowboy” James Storm and “The American
Dream” Dusty Rhodes

Dusty still gets a pop, and thankfully he is wearing the jeans. Kash and Dusty to start. Kash shoves him, and mocks the elbow. Big Dusty chants. Dusty shoves Kash off the apron as he was yelling at the crowd. Kash back in, and he wants the ref to check Dusty’s elbow pad. They work the crowd a bit, then a lock up and Kash pushes him back to the corner and slaps him. Lock up again, and Dusty takes Kash to the corner, and pays Kash back. The crowd is eating this up. Kash charges Dusty, but Dusty fires off with punches then tried the elbow and Kash bails. Kash grabs the straps and tries to leave, but Storm stops him. Kash yells at Tenay and West, then back into the ring. Kash tags Dallas and the big man is in. Tag to Storm and the crowd still loves this. Kash tags back in, and he wants Storm. They toy with each other, then lock up. To the mat they go with a nice series of mat reversals, and Kash with the advantage. To their feet, Kash escapes, but eats a clothesline from Storm. Arm drag then a dropkick by Storm and Kash bails again. Strom and Dusty get chairs and sit down in the middle of the ring and Kash is pissed! Kash in with a drop kick to Dusty’s knee, and now he is in control. Spinning toe hold by Kash, and a tag to Dallas. The ref tried to get Dusty back to the corner, roll up by Storm but Dallas comes in and nails Storm with the steel pipe and Kash rolls up Storm for the win @ 11 minutes.

Fun match. Not high on quality, but the crowd loved it and were very involved. Very old school with the stalling early and playing to the crowd.

Scott Hudson with Jeff Jarrett. JJ says he has waited 35 days for his shot. He says the odds aren’t with him. He is in there with 4 egos, and they will take each other out for him. He says no one can out think him. AJ Styles attacks JJ! They are quickly separated by Security.

Some chick in a whit outfit comes out, and we fade.

Hot match. The concept seemed confusing to me at first, but actually played out well. They all busted their asses, and it made for a hot match.

Good show this week. A very hot crowd helped a couple matches that weren’t as great and it was a good time. I guess TNA couldn’t handle the Truth, and went with Jeff Jarrett to bring in the IMPACT era. If you have the time, please check out IMPACT this Friday, and help support another show for us to watch. Thanks for reading, until next week I am Larry Csonka and you know you want to be a Zonkamaniac~!
