411’s WWE Superstars Report 7.15.10
And I’m back, once again. Apparently none of the other 411 staffers want to recap this show (although I’m curious to know how many actually know of its existence) so you’re stuck with me for another week. Yay.
So yeah, tonight Chris Jericho makes an appearance as he faces Yoshi Tatsu. Also on tap, the Bella’s are gonna be in action as they take on Jillian Hall and Maryse in tag action. So let’s get on with the show now.
WWE Superstars
Match 1 : Chavo Guerrero vs JTG
We get a recap of Ziggler winning the Three Way match on Smackdown last week to earn his way to MITB. JTG doesn’t get an entrance, which I find surprising. Chain wrestling to start. Side headlock takeover by JTG. Chavo counters into a hammerlock. Shoulder block by JTG. Pin but a quick kickout. Another headlock by JTG. Chavo goes to duck under, but JTG steps on him and lock in another headlock. Chavo pushes JTG into the corner. Right hands by JTG. Boot by Chavo in the corner. European uppercut by Chavo, and he locks in a submission. JTG fights out with forearms, but to no avail. JTG elevates Chavo over the top and onto the apron. JTG slides under the legs and throws Chavo into the barricade. Back in the ring now as Chavo dropkicks JTG off the apron. Chavo goes to the outside and attacks JTG. Tope atomico by Chavo. Pin but only two. Chavo starts choking JTG in the ropes. Keylock armbar by Chavo. JTG gets back to his feet and hits Chavo with the rights to fight out. JTG ducks a right and hit’s a jumping back elbow. Backdrop by JTG. Flipping neck breaker. Pin but only two. Neckbreaker by JTG. Another cover but only two. Chavo back on the offensive as he beats down JTG in the corner. JTG counters an irish whip with a clothesline. Hot shot by Chavo. Frog Splash follows. Pin and it’s over.
Winner : Chavo Guerrero (**¼ – Solid outing here. Both guys worked well with each other, and a win for Chavo is always a good thing. I‘m just curious to see if it goes anywhere, though I doubt it)
-Chris Jericho vs Yoshi Tatsu is hyped up for later tonight.
Match 2 : Vance Archer and Curt Hawkins vs Matt Cross and Jamin Canceco
Hawkins and Canceco start things off. Tie up to start, and Hawkins locks in a headlock. Takedown by Hawkins and he wraps the legs tighter. Stomp to the back by Hawkins. Canceco coutners a backdrop but gets hit with a spinning scoop slam (not the Randy Orton scoop slam). Tag to Archer. Hawkins swipes the legs and Archer hit’s a running kick. Choking in the corner by Archer. Canceco avoids Archer and tags in Cross, but Cross gets clotheslined off the apron. Archer with a double goozle and just launches Cross over head. Cross with a roll up, but Archer kicks out. Huge clothesline by Archer. He mounts Cross and hits him with the rights. Tag to Hawkins. Archer hit’s the reverse DDT, and Hawkins hit’s the Heat Seeking Elbow for the win.
Winners : Curt Hawkins and Vance Archer (*¾ – Your average squash match. Hawkins and Archer have some good chemistry and some nice tag team moves. I wouldn’t doubt them getting a tag title shot soon)
-We get a recap of Percy Watson’s talk show on NXT, leading to the battle royal.
Match 3 : Maryse and Jillian Hall vs The Bella Twins
We get a recap of the Bella madness from last week. Jillian Hall has a mic and starts singing. And here comes the Bella’s to save the day. Jillian and random Bella number one start. Jillian takes down Bella #1 and then does Maryse’s taunt in the ropes. Maryse just laughs at it. Jillian in control by pulling back the hair. She takes random Bella #1 and throws her across the ring. Here comes Maryse. Choking in the ropes by Maryse. Running knee lift to the back. Pin but only two. Chinlock by Maryse. Random Bella #1 counters out. And here comes random Bella #2. Clothesline galore ensue. Monkey flip connects. And a dropkick. Pin but Jillian breaks up the pin. Double bulldog by the Bella’s to Maryse. Jillian pushes Maryse to the outside and trys the switcher. The ref isn’t falling for it though. Jillian leaves the ring and Maryse attacks random Bella #2 from behind. Tag to Jillian and they double team random Bella #2 in the corner. Samoan Drop by Jillian connects. Right hands follow. The ref pulls Jillian off and the Bella’s switch up. Jackknife cover by random Bella #1, and it’s over.
Winners : The Bella Twins (** – Nothing offensive, it just wasn’t great. Still, I can’t give this anything less than two stars due to the level of hotness involved)
-We get a recap of the WM 21 MITB ladder match. Why aren’t they showing the other ones? I can understand 22 and 23, but 24 and 26 seem acceptable.
-We get a recap of the Nexus/Cena stuff that happened on Raw. Lawler and Coleslaw run down the MITB card.
Match 4 : Chris Jericho vs Yoshi Tatsu
Tie up to start, and Yoshi pushes Jericho into the corner. Snapmare by Jericho, and he kicks the back. Headlock follows. Yoshi fights out but gets hit with a shoulder block. Yoshi goes to the top, but Jericho pushes him to the outside as we head to commercial.
We’re back and Jericho is in control. Yoshi with some right hands and chops to fight back, but Jericho kicks him in the gut and stomps the back of his head. Dropkick to the back of the head by Y2J. Jericho throws Tatsu to the outside and lays on the ropes nonchalantly. Apparently Yoshi’s been busted open right around his eye, and medics are checking up on him. Jericho sits down on a chair in the ring. Jericho throws Yoshi back in the ring. Jericho now choking him in the ropes. Jericho goes for the guillotine attack, but Yoshi moves and Jericho gets crotched. Kicks by Yoshi, and chops follow. Boot by Jericho in the corner. Snapmare by Jericho and he locks in the sleeper. Yoshi fights out but runs into a back elbow. Lionsault misses, but Jericho lands on his feet. Chops by Yoshi ensue. Liger kick follows. Pin but only two. Double underhook backbreaker by Jericho. Yoshi tries to fight to the ropes, but Jericho drags him to the center of the ring. Yoshi has no choice by to submit.
Winner : Chris Jericho (**¾ – Good outing between these two. The stoppage due to Yoshi bleeding was kind of week, but I don’t blame them for doing it. Still, this is about what you would expect from these two)
