Alberto Del Rio’s First Post-WWE Appearance Set for Next Week, Set to Wrestle Against Paige’s Brothers

– As previously reported, Alberto Del Rio has once again parted ways with WWE. And now, he has his first post-WWE appearance lined up for the British promotion, World Association of Wrestling. Del Rio has been announced for an upcoming WAW promotion event in Norwich, England. He and his brother, Memo, are reportedly scheduled to face Zack and Roy Knight, who happen to be the brothers of Paige, who is Del Rio’s girlfriend. Interestingly enough, Paige is also at the center of some rumors right now as an earlier report claimed that she is quitting WWE.

The event is scheduled for next week at WAW’s TV4 event at EPIC Studios. The WAW promotion also happens to be owned by Paige’s parents, Ricky and Saraya Knight. You can read the full announcement from WAW below:

Former World Champion Alberto del Rio has been officially confirmed as the newest member of the WAW roster just hours after becoming a free agent. The signing comes days after rumours of a major signing were revealed, though the identity of this signing remained secret and led to wide speculation regarding their identity.

Del Rio is well known for his affiliation with existing roster member Ricardo Rodriguez, with Rodriguez being employed as the Mexican superstar’s personal ring announcer for several years. The friendship between del Rio and Rodriguez is suspected to be a significant factor in his decision to join WAW.

Perhaps more significant, however, is del Rio’s relationship with the Knight Dynasty. Current World Tag Team Champions The UK Hooligans are said to enjoy a good friendship with del Rio, and Zak’s leadership of the negotiations process is likely to have been the deciding factor in this huge news.

The signing comes just one week before our return to EPIC Studios, Norwich for TV4 where Undisputed World Heavyweight Champion Luke Hawx defends his title against Mr Anderson, and only a day before the debut of WAW on Mustard TV. Del Rio is inarguably the biggest addition to the roster in the history of the company and will immediately alter the landscape upon his arrival.
