Alexa Bliss Impersonator Scammed Almost $1 Million Out of Retired Man
One or more Alexa Bliss impersonators reportedly scammed an elderly man out of almost $1 million. The New York Times reports that a scammer pretending to be the WWE star in order to take advantage of 79-year-old Alfred Mancinelli. The report notes that the scammers contacted Mancinelli online and convinced him to send them hundreds of thousands of dollars. The scam started in 2018 but got worse during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report speaks with Mancinelli’s son Chris and sources chat messages, in which the impersonator (or impersonators) claimed that “she” was hospitalized multiple times due to bad menstrual periods and needed money to get treatment. “She” also claimed that she was humiliated by Vince McMahon for rejecting his advances.
Alfred at one point had $900,000 saved but by spring of 2021, it had dropped to $120,000. Chris said that he tried to intervene but that Alfred was so convinced that he disowned Chris and even sued him when Chris tried to step in and save Alfred’s remaining $100,000. According to an elder care specialist, Alfred was still mentally “sharp” but was lacking a purpose in life when the scam happened. Chris noted that “There was nothing we could do to convince him… I believe they crafted stories that pulled on those heart strings.”
Alfred passed away after failing to recover from neck surgery needed after taking a fall in the summer of 2023.
Bliss has commonly been used as an identity for scammers and has spoken out many times to warn people not to fall for the scammers.
