Arn Anderson Says nWo Sting Angle Was Clever Booking

On the latest episode of The ARN Show, Arn Anderson talked about the nWo “Fake Sting” storyline from September 1996. The angle involved Jeff Farmer portraying an imposter Sting to sow doubt among WCW wrestlers regarding the real Sting’s allegiance.
Anderson praised the angle for its ability to deceive both the fans and the wrestlers. You can check out some highlights below:
On Tricking Fans:
“Anytime you can trip up boys and the audience, I think you’ve accomplished something. And Jeff looked enough like Sting that you didn’t know, if you just glanced, that was Sting. So it was well done. It was close enough visually to work. And to me, in those days good booking is how you kept the ball rolling and kept it plausible and believable.”
On the Story Keeping the nWo Cool:
“It made the nWo slick, clever, and all that. Some people were going, ‘Well, they’re too cool.’ Well, it just made you keep watching and gave you an answer to, ‘How can smaller numbers overwhelm entire company?’”
On Scott Hall:
“He was tall, good physique, physically gifted in a lot of ways, and he had a great mind for the business. So, you know, he was — not to take it away from Lex, but he was pretty much the total package.”
