On the latest episode of The ARN Show, Arn Anderson talked about Scott Hall’s unexpected arrival on the May 27, 1996, episode of WCW Monday Nitro and his memories of that night, revealing that Hall’s debut was kept from nearly everyone, including the wrestlers backstage. You can check out some highlights below:

On when he first heard of Scott Hall arriving in WCW:

“When he showed up. They kept it solid, they kept it kayfabe. And it was a surprise and a shock for not only the fans, but the boys. Because there was no buildup to it. Nobody tipped their hand. When he showed up it was like, ‘Wait a minute, Jesus!’ Because in those days, you protected stuff, and that was your hook for the whole next show. You don’t think I want to hear why I just saw what I did last week? Everybody should have been talking about that. The whole show should have been dedicated.”

On the Locker Room Reaction:

“Oh, yeah. You had guys coming up that were friends of Scott’s that — you know, they had protected that big time. And it was just a great buzz, because you knew now we had a foothold to things really turning around.”

On Hall’s WCW debut to Steve Austin’s “Austin 3:16” promo:

“I think you’ve got to go with Austin. I just looked at what I could see, fan reaction-wise. And they will tell you when something gets over.”
