Athena Says She Wants To Do More In AEW, Win Women’s Titles There

Athena says that it’s time for her to take a step deeper into AEW and find gold there the way she has in ROH. Athena is the ROH Forever Champion, having held the Women’s World Championship there for 1,362 days and counting. She has made occasional appearances in AEW but as she told the Dallas Morning News, she believes she’s ready to head to AEW proper and begin hunting all the titles there. On Potentially Moving to AEW:

“It’s finally time for me to make that forever as well. I feel like I’ve given the world to Ring of Honor. I’ve given years of my career being the ‘forever’ ROH champion. I’ve given so much to be the longest reigning champion in the modern day era, the most violent champion of the era. But when it comes to me, I want to do more with AEW. So this means more.

“I want to be AEW women’s champion. I want to be AEW TBS champion. I want to be an AEW tag champion to show the world that everything that I’ve done, holding a whole company on my back, climbing to the top of the mountain with it, was all worth it.”

On Her Metroplex Wrestling Promotion:

“She’s my baby. No matter where you come from we have a place for you. We’re all here to help each other. We’re all here to grow and get better together while providing one of the best wrestling events of the year. This one is very special to me.”

On Her Goals:

“It’s time to reset. It’s time to get down and nitty gritty, and it’s time for me to be more selfish. I feel like I give back so much, my emotion, my training. I feel like it’s time to get back to what I need to do for me, and it starts in Allen.”
