Backstage News On Why WWE Moved John Cena to RAW
WWE officials are reportedly excited to match John Cena up against a new era of talent now that he has moved to RAW. Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated reports that the decision to move Cena to RAW was done primarily to elevate younger talent and, in particular, Roman Reigns.
“Vince McMahon wants Cena to elevate and give the rub to Roman Reigns,” Barasso said. “The prevailing factor behind Cena’s move to Raw is all about his opponents. The decision was not made solely because Cena is going to draw ratings, but rather because of who Cena is going to draw ratings with.”
RAW on Monday set the stage for a Cena/Reigns match in the near future, with WWE hoping Cena can give the rub to Reigns. Moving Cena to RAW also sets up matches between Cena and other young talent, such as Samoa Joe and Braun Strowman.
