Backstage Report on The Future of Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi After Royal Rumble

WWE is reportedly still exploring a potential future matchup between Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi, though nothing has been finalized. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the idea is being discussed internally.

Dave Meltzer noted that the concept gained traction after both men stood out during the 2026 Royal Rumble. They also had a brief face-off in the ring, and eventually, Femi was eliminated by Lesnar. Notably, there was no interaction between Lesnar and Gunther at the Rumble. Gunther entered late at number 30, after Lesnar had already been eliminated. That absence appears to have cooled speculation about that matchup, at least for now.

If the Brock Lesnar versus Oba Femi match does happen, Meltzer believes the direction would be clear in that Femi would be positioned to win. Whether the match happens or not would depend heavily on what WWE has planned for Lesnar, since a loss to Femi would potentially impact his stature as a top talent. Femi going over would establish him as a main-roster talent following his dominant NXT Championship run.

Femi made his official RAW debut this week and decimated Erik and Ivar of the War Raiders.
