New Security Alert Issued by US State Department Regarding Middle Eastern Travel

WWE Crown Jewel is scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 7. All indications are that this show will occur at the time and place it is scheduled. There may or may not be a backup plan in place, and some employees are a bit reticent to travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia given the Middle Eastern climate at the moment.

I’m aware there’s already been a lot of coverage surrounding this, but we’ve got some more this morning. The US State Department has issued a new travel advisory for the Middle East this morning.

Americans currently in the Middle East should exercise heightened vigilance due to the complex security environment. Be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. Iranian-supported Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including attacks on civilian airports and other critical infrastructure resulting in civilian casualties and severe travel disruptions. The hostilities have the potential to escalate rapidly beyond that immediate area. Americans traveling to or from the Middle East should monitor information about airport and airline operations and develop contingency plans in advance. Iran and groups supportive of Iran may target other U.S. interests overseas or at locations associated with the United States and Americans throughout the world, including U.S. businesses and other institutions.”

Saudi Arabia itself is at a Level 3 (out of 4) advisory as of last week, information on the State Department’s website regarding that hasn’t changed since then.

WWE Crown Jewel is expected to be heavily advertised on tonight’s WWE Raw, including a face to face segment with the two men expected to headline the show: Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn.
