Carmelo Hayes Blacks Out X Profile Picture Amid Extended Absence from WWE TV

Former United States Champion Carmelo Hayes has blacked out his profile picture on X (FKA Twitter) amid his ongoing absence from WWE television.

Melo has not featured on WWE television in nearly two months. His last appearance came on the August 14, 2026, edition of Friday Night SmackDown, where he challenged then-United States Champion Baron Corbin in a losing cause.

Carmelo’s booking on the WWE main roster has been lackluster. He abruptly dropped the United States Championship to Sami Zayn weeks before WrestleMania 42 and wasn’t featured at The Show of Shows. Despite him being in the US Title picture, Hayes was once again snubbed from another marquee WWE PLE, i.e., SummerSlam.

With him not being featured on SmackDown in the past two months and his recent social media activity, speculations regarding his future with the promotion have intensified. That said, his latest social media activity does not confirm that he is done with WWE; it may just be a tease for a character change.

In August, Fightful Select reported that Carmelo Hayes is internally seen as a dependable performer with a high level of potential.
