Cedric Alexander On His Decision To Join TNA Over Hurt Syndicate Reunion In AEW

Cedric Alexander is happy with where he’s at in TNA right now, and he recently weighed in on why he chose to go there instead a Hurt Syndicate reunion in AEW. Alexander previously confirmed that he turned down an opportunity to go to AEW where his former Hurt Business allies are in favor of TNA, where he is now part of The System.
Alexander explained his decision in an appearance on Know Your Wrestling. He noted that he is at a different place in his career than the trio in the Hurt Syndicate and talked about how TNA was a bucket list item for him. He also pointed out the company’s influence on wrestling as it is today. You can see highlights below:
On Deciding To Sign With TNA:
“I came in right at a really good time around TNA. Actually, it was a good time for everyone. I had just left WWE of course, and trying to figure out what I want to do in my next move. And you know, the Hurt Syndicate was something that people kept talking about. But at the same time too, they were at a different part of their careers and I still got another 15, 20 years in mind. So it was more of a case of thinking, ‘How can I not only do something for me, but do things that I’ve always wanted to do in wrestling?’
“And being a TNA is kind of a bucket list thing, you know what I mean? Like, TNA was the promotion around when I was a fan, watching AJ Styles and Jerry Lynn, and the X-Division. When they were doing the pay-per-views in Nashville, the Nashville Armory or something like that? I can’t remember.”
On TNA’s Influence On Today’s Wrestling:
“For me, TNA is a place that I think really deserves more credit than what it’s been given between the X-Division and Knockouts and just kind of setting the tone for what wrestling is today. Because if you look at your Will Ospreays or Swerve Strickland or whoever — whoever you want to name — a lot of those guys got inspiration and what they do from TNA.
“So for me, it’s a place to not only give back to what gave me my love for wrestling, but also give myself some championships in the meantime.”
