Chris Jericho Reveals Who He Wants To Induct Him Into WWE Hall of Fame

In the latest episode of Talk is Jericho, Chris Jericho answered fan questions, including who he would want to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame and more. The live Q&A was recorded from his cruise in October of last year. Here are highlights:

On how hard it was to get over in the Attitude Era: “I always call myself the George Harrison of the Attitude Era. And what I mean by that is I was always super popular as a babyface. George Harrison is one of the greatest songwriters and singers of all time, the only problem with that is he was in a band with the two greatest songwriters and singers of all time, John Lennon and Paul McCartney. No matter what George did he would never get above Paul and John. Chris Jericho and the Attitude Era, I was super popular, but I was in the company with Steve Austin and The Rock. No matter what I did, I would never get bigger than those two guys, so that’s why I turned heel and worked with them, so at least you could still be in that rarefied air, but never as a babyface. I think that was probably the hardest era to really get over in because the talent level was so high. There was legitimately twelve Hall of Fame, world champion, main event guys: Triple H, Mick Foley, Kurt Angle, Jericho, Undertaker, you name it. They were all there in that time frame. So it was very hard to get over at that point in time.”

On what dream match he would like to have: “My three heroes when I was a kid were Shawn Michaels, Ricky the Dragon Steamboat and the other one was Owen Hart. I got to work with Shawn extensively, I got to work with Steamboat a bunch of times. I never got to work with Owen Hart. One of the reasons why I left WCW to go to WWE, if you had a list of 100, one of the eighty reasons, is ‘maybe I’ll get a chance to work with Owen Hart.’ And before I got there he passed away, so I never had the chance to work with Owen. I would have loved to worked with him and I would have loved to worked with him as a motivated performer. Owen Hart would be so amazing in this day and age, in this era. He was such a pioneer and such a revolutionary when it came to the style, the modern hybrid of Japanese-European-Calgary style, American style, he was a great character but he was so smooth in the ring. If he had guys to work with that knew how to do that with him and draw that out of him, I guarantee he would still be remembered as he was but he would have been even better. If he got a chance to work with Eddie, Dean, Chris Jericho or Rollins, Reigns, Kenny, Cody…That’s Owen’s wheelhouse. So if I could work with anybody it’d be Owen Hart.

On who he’d want to induct him into the WWE Hall of Fame: “I used to think that Shawn Michaels would be good, but he’s done it before. I think, honestly, Kevin Owens would be good and I’ll tell you the reason why. He grew up as a fan of mine and then ended up doing this amazing angle with him. We had great chemistry. And, again, a cool whole eight-month angle or whatever it was, so I think it would be kind of cool to have him do it from both sides of the coin, from being a fan of Chris Jericho and then getting to work with Chris Jericho, much like when Shawn got inducted, they never asked me, but I would have been a real good candidate. I would say Kevin Owens, or my go to answer is always Funaki.”
