Clarification On WWE’s Creative Plans For Royce Keys
It was reported earlier today that WWE didn’t have creative plans for Royce Keys, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. As noted earlier today, a report from WrestlingNews.co aggregated a quote from WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select that suggested WWE had “nothing” for Keys. The quote was as follows:
“Nothing. Big question mark. Absolutely nothing. You know, we had speculated that SmackDown was the place for him. It certainly does still seem like that’s going to be his home. I know he was backstage Friday night. Saw some pictures of him. Don’t know when he’s showing up on TV. Hopefully, they have an idea. Hopefully, this is part of the plan.”
Fightful Select reports that the quote was taken out of context and that the answer was in response to a question about whether there was an update on Keys. In other words, they were sating there was no update, not that WWE had nothing for him.
Fightful Select followed up today and was told there have been things filmed for Keys. That said, there has been no further context on what was filmed, what the creative plans were, or a date for a re-debut. Keys made an appearance on Stephanie McMahon’s “What’s Your Story?” podcast recently, which WWE has heavily promoted.
On behalf of 411, we apologize for our own aggregation based on the other site’s report.
