– Tom Phillips explains JBL’s departure from the booth and introduces his replacement, Corey Graves.

– Orton cuts a backstage promo; discussing seeing tons of stars arrive and fall. Nakamura is a star, but no one will stop him from getting his title back. We now see Nakamura shadowboxing, and he explains that he respects Orton. Nakamura is chasing his destiny, which is the WWE title.

– Ellsworth and Carmella are in the ring, but before they can say anything of note, Kevin Owens interrupts them. Owens claims he is the ref for Carmella’s match, but Shane McMahon now arrives. Shane is here to shut this down; Owens will not be a referee. Shane says that Owens has been defiant, and they need to get something clear. Owens needs to stop blaming him for his recent losses. Owens blames Shane again for his losses, and says Shane never wanted him on Smackdown, and he doesn’t want to be there either. Shane says Triple H gave him the universal title and he won’t give him anything, he has to earn everything he gets on Smackdown. Owens asks why Shane always needs the spotlight, questioning if he has daddy issues. Owens says Shane parades his kids out and jumps off of high things to get attention. Owens says his entire family would have been better off if Shane hadn’t survived his helicopter crash. Shane has had enough of this bullshit and attacks. They brawl to the floor and over the commentary table. Shane fights off security and agents until Daniel Bryan arrives and stops him. Bryan gives him the disappointed dad look as the crowd chants for Shane.

– Owens is being helped backstage and Bryan apologizes to him, saying that Shane is out of line. Owens says to enjoy his job while he has t because he will sue Shane, WWE and every member of the McMahon family. He will take the show and WWE down. Bryan wants to fix this, and Owens threatens to file criminal charges against Shane.

Non-Title Match: Smackdown Women’s Champion Natalya vs. Carmella: Natalya is scheduled to defend against Naomi next week. Carmella runs wild early, hitting a head scissors, bulldog and dropkick. Natalya fires back with a clothesline, and Carmella rolls to the floor. We go screen in screen, as Carmella begs for a time out. Natalya follows her to the floor and works her over. Back in they go and Natalya covers for 2. Natalya hits a suplex and chokes Carmella out in the ropes. Natalya then grounds the action, but Carmella uses the hair to slam her down. The broncobuster by Carmella follows, she celebrates and then lays in ground and pound. The body scissors follows by Carmella, and we’re back full screen. Natalya fires back as we see Naomi watching on. Natalya powers out and hits a slam. She looks for the sharpshooter, but Carmella fights it off, hitting a superkick for 2. Ellsworth slides in the MITB case, but Carmella refuses to use it. Natalya rolls her up for the win. Champion Natalya defeated Carmella @ 6:10 via pin [**] This was s solid outing, serving as another tease for Carmella& the MITB shot. The break up angle feels like a big swerve.

– Post match, Carmella says she knows Ellsworth is sorry, a sorry excuse for a human. He’s not even a human. She then repeats herself and runs down Ellsworth, and asks how he still has a job, and says he’s a charity case and his mother should have given him away at birth. He’s ruined her business for the last time; she says they are through.

– Ziggler is back, same music and gear. He says no one appreciates the greatest performer in WWE history. “You don’t want me, they just want some dumb gimmick.” He walks away. John Cena’s music hits and Ziggler comes back out mocking Cena’s entrance. He then says he has something better, and this time, comes out to Randy Savage’s music with a generic chick at his side and bad robe. He says they usually buy the nostalgia crap and says he knows what they want and deserve, and now comes out mocking Naomi’s entrance. He says anyone can do what he just did, but no one can do what he does in that ring, but the fans couldn’t care less and he doesn’t care about them. They all make him sick. He leaves. That was a segment. I guess he’s trying to make fans hate him, but it just felt like a waste of time to me.

– English sings his intro, but Sami interrupts.

Aiden English vs. Sami Zayn: This is a rematch from last week, which English “won” when Kevin Owens, playing referee, got involved, costing Sami the match. Sami attacks at the bell, lays in strikes and hits a head scissors. The clothesline follows, but he then misses a high cross and English cradles him for the win. Aiden English defeated Sami Zayn @ 1:10 via pin [NR] It’s 2017 and WWE still has no idea how to book Sami Zayn. It’s not even the fact that he lost, but they aren’t even giving him a chance to have great matches.

– English sings post match and Sami chases him away.

– New Day meets with Daniel Bryan. The Usos arrive, and the stipulation for the tag title match next week in a sin city street fight.

– Bryan gets a call, and he has to go to the ring to deal with something. It sounds like he’s talking to Vince, lots of “yes sirs” in there.

Daniel Bryan Talks: Bryan makes his way to the ring, looking very serious and with no music. He calls out Shane to come to the ring. Shane arrives, no music. Bryan asks what Shane was thinking, and Bryan brings up his issues with Miz last year. Miz kept pushing him and pushing him, he wanted to fight back, but he didn’t because Shane told him that he had to put WWE first. So he restrained himself every week, and did what was best for WWE and Smackdown. You can’t assault the employees or the wrestlers. Shane says he agrees and takes full responsibility for his actions. He went into a rage because Owens brought up his family. Bryan is now a family man, but Bryan says not to throw that in his face. Bryan says he is concerned about the jobs of those in the back and Owens is vindictive. Shane says he will smooth things over, but Bryan says it’s too late for that. Vince called him earlier, and effective immediately, per Vince’s orders, Shane is indefinitely suspended. This was the follow up to the opening segment, which should lead to Owens talking Shane to come back for the match at HIAC.

– We’ve managed to put on 7:20 of wrestling in 70-minutes of show so far.

– Renee interviews Jinder Mahal. The Singhs are with him. He doesn’t care whom he defends against, he’s beaten both Orton and Nakamura already. He represents Asia better than Nakamura ever could. He’s the greatest WWE champion of all time, and will be watching tonight’s main event closely. Mahal then speaks to his people.

– AJ Styles is out on commentary, putting over Connor’s Cure.

Baron Corbin vs. Tye Dillinger: This was set up last week when Corbin attacked after his failed bid at the US title. Corbin to the floor, talks shit to AJ allowing Dillinger to hit a suicide dive. He lays the boots to Corbin on the floor, and they work back into the ring. Dillinger sends him right back to the floor and we go screen in screen. They work back into the ring, with Corbin cutting off Dillinger. Corbin works the heat, beating down Dillinger with little resistance. Back to full screen, and Dillinger fights to his feet. Corbin hits the Boosman in and out lariat, covering for 2. Corbin talks shit to AJ, Dillinger hits a jawbreaker and follows with rights. The flying forearm follows. Dillinger lays the boots to Corbin in the corner. He looks for the Tye beaker, but Corbin counters out and sends Dillinger to the floor. He works him over, rolls him back in and again talks shit to AJ. Dillinger counters the chokebreaker into a roll up for 2. Dillinger follows with corner punches. Corbin hits a cheap shot and slams Dillinger to the post. End of days finishes it. Baron Corbin defeated Tye Dillinger @ 7:25 via pin [**½] This was an average match, but it played well off of last week and gave Corbin some momentum as he looks to feud with Styles over the US Title.

– AJ Styles meets with Tye Dillinger backstage. Styles runs down Corbin, and says next week, he’s giving Tye a shot at the US Title. They shake hands. AJ is such a giving man.

– We get a Bobby Roode video package. It’s glorious.

– We see Ellsworth meeting with Carmella, he begs for forgiveness and even makes fun of himself. He begs for another chance, and Carmella agrees, but they will do things her way. She kisses him and slaps him. Ellsworth liked it.

#1 Contender’s Match: Randy Orton vs. Shinsuke Nakamura: They lockup, Orton looks to work the arm but Nakamura escapes. Orton teases the RKO, but Nakamura avoids that. Nakamura looks to get cute; Orton almost hits the draping DDT but Nakamura bails to the floor as we head to a break. Post break and Orton is in control. He dumps Nakamura onto the ropes and then grounds him with a chinlock. Nakamura battles back, sends Orton to the floor but Orton cuts him off. Nakamura follows but Orton slams him off of the commentary table and back in covers for 2. Back to the chinlock for Orton. Nakamura battles back with knees and kicks, and we have a double down. Nakamura fires up, hits the running kick and then follows with more kicks to the chest. Nakamura hits the corner charge, follows with knee strikes and covers for 2. Orton fights of the reverse XPLODER and hits the back breaker. Nakamura cuts him off with a kick, he heads up top and Orton cuts that off and follows up with a superplex. Orton covers for 2. Nakamura calls Orton on, and then lays in knee strikes to take Orton down. Nakamura lights Orton up with the knees, Kinshasa countered into the snap slam and Orton counters for 2. Orton hits the draping DDT, and sets for the RKO, but Nakamura counters into an arm bar and then into a triangle. Orton fights out and powerbombs Nakamura to escape. Nakamura counters the RKO into a backstabber, KINSHASA connects and Nakamura wins. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Randy Orton @ 13:33 via pin [***½] This ended up being a very good match, they worked very well together and had an invested crowd. Nakamura picks up the clean win and heads to HIAC to challenge for the title again.

– Kevin Owens walks and meets with Bryan. Owens says next week he will make Smackdown his personal playground and no one can do anything about it. Bryan says VINCE is coming to deal with this next week.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good
The 411
While far from a great show, they set three title matches for next week (Styles vs. Dillinger, Usos vs. New Day & Natalya vs. Naomi) and announced the Vince appearance, continued the build to Styles vs. Corbin & Shane vs. Owens, and set Nakamura vs. Mahal for HIAC. Not the best of shows (hour one felt really slow), but the set up for next week was well done, which should lead to more being set for HIAC next week.
