As noted, the main event WWE Women’s Title Triple Threat Match on WWE SmackDown had a botched finish. Near the end of the match, there was a botched finish, with WWE referee Daphanie LaShaunn (aka Aja Smith) only counted two when Tiffany Stratton had the pin cover over Nia Jax, even though Jax didn’t lift her shoulder up. LaShaunn has since commented on the controversial finish to the title bout on her Instagram Stories.
She wrote, “I see all the love. I’m just human, but I can promise that I strive to always be better. Which will forever be my goal as long as I’m on this journey. I love this just like y’all. That I can swear to you.”
As previously reported, the finish to the match was improvised after Jade Cargill suffered a nasty cut during the match. Stratton was still booked to win the match, but it happened differently than originally planned. Stratton later pinned Jax with the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to score the win. The mistake was also later removed from WWE’s YouTube clips of the match.
