DarkState Turns On Saquon Shugars Following Main Event On WWE NXT

DarkState had shed one of their number as they turned on Saquon Shugars at the end of this week’s WWE NXT. Tuesday night’s episode saw the group turn on Shugars, attacking him and kicking him out of the group following the main event.

The main event match saw Dion Lennox and Shugars challenge Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes were able to retain the championships when Shugars blind tagged into the match but lost when Smokes cradled him up for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Osiris Griffin and Cutler James turned and attacked Shugars, with Lennox joining in as well. Shugars fought back but was tossed to the outside and got powerbombed through the announce table. The group stood over Shugars to end the episode.

The group has had issues for the last several weeks, largely due to tension between Shugars and Lennox. Shugars took issue with Lennox chasing singles gold rather than positioning the entire group for success. Griffin and James laid down the law on last week’s show, saying that Lennox and Shugars needed to be on the same page.

The Vanity Project’s NXT Tag Team Championship reign stands at 85 days. They won the titles from DarkState on the February 24th episode of WWE NXT.
