On the latest episode of 83 Weeks, Eric Bischoff discussed Logan Paul’s recent comments about rapper Travis Scott. Paul recently revealed that Scott was intended to be part of the John Cena heel run more but “didn’t show up,” causing plans to be scrapped.
Bischoff used celebrities like Dennis Rodman and Jay Leno in WCW, and offered a staunch defense of Rodman when comparing him to the current situation. You can check out some highlights below:
On Comparing the Two:
“Oh, not even close. Dennis Rodman was Dennis Rodman, right? And he had his priorities. But one of those priorities was to get the work done, and to be as good as he could be. Now you can question his lifestyle and the impact that had on his ability to be the best it could be. But while he was late from time to time — and yes, you had to make sure there were people handling him to get him from point A to point B. Yeah, that’s a pain in the ass. But once he got where he was supposed to be — and he always did, he never no-showed us. There was never a concern as to whether or not Dennis would show up when he was supposed to. Not even a thought. Can’t compare those two individuals at all.”
On Dealing With Celebrities:
“Look, you take somebody that’s an entertainer in another form of entertainment. An actor, rapper, whatever, ice skater, it doesn’t matter. And you put them into the world of professional wrestling, they have a perception of what that is and how difficult it may be or what it may be like. And then they get involved, and it’s in a completely different reality than what they expected most of the time.
“And some people that are primarily athletes, they embrace it. They’ll overcome it. It’s a challenge, they want to be good at it. They want to put on a great show, they want to look good out there doing it. Dennis Rodman, Kevin Green, Steve McMichael, you name it. People that get in here and actually do the work and want to be good. Want to be good at it. Bad Bunny did the work. He felt comfortable in that environment.”
On Logan Paul:
“Logan Paul obviously excelled in that taking from one world and being thrust into another a la Joseph Campbell, Hero’s Journey. Logan Paul’s having a tremendous amount of success doing Logan Paul things. And he decides, ‘Hey, I think I’m going to give this wrestling thing a shot.’ He does and absolutely excels at it.
“That’s rare. More common it’s like, ‘Ooh, why didn’t I get into this?’ So I think Travis probably thought walking into wrestling was going to be no big deal, and found out otherwise. And probably wasn’t prepared. Dennis was always ready. He was not always on time, but he was always ready.”
