Eric Bischoff Doesn’t Understand the Business Logic of Sinclair Broadcasting Valuing Ring of Honor
– During a recent edition of Bischoff on Wrestling, Eric Bischoff discussed ROH parent company, Sinclair Broadcasting, and its recent purchase of the Bonten Media Group for $240 million. He also discussed the business logic of Sinclair Broadcasting and Ring of Honor. Here is an excerpt:
“I don’t know what the business logic is with Sinclair Broadcasting and why they value Ring of Honor. Clearly they are very smart, successful people so we can assume they figured it out. I just don’t know what that is. I don’t know their business model. I don’t see Ring of Honor expanding into a big live event model. I don’t see them expanding much in the way of PPV. I don’t see them ever becoming any kind of real competition to WWE. I don’t mean that derisively. I mean that from a business perspective. I can’t imagine that WWE is even paying attention. WWE is not in the syndication business. They aren’t out there buying up syndication networks. I doubt that it’s really on their radar.”
