Johnny Gargano Recalls Buff Bagwell Saying He Didn’t Have What It Took At 17

Johnny Gargano recently recalled how when he was 17, Buff Bagwell said he didn’t have what it took to make it. Gargano was a guest on ron-On Wrestling with Gregory Iron and during the conversation he recalled how he would wrestle on events held at his father’s pizza shop when he was young. During one event when he was 17 years old, Bagwell was on the card.

“That’s the famous time where my dad asked Buff Bagwell if my son was going to make it,” Gargano recalled (per Fightful). “Buff Bagwell said ‘no.’ He said, ‘What do you think, Buff, you think my son has got it?’ Buff was like, ‘No. He doesn’t.'”

Gargano continued, “He’s since apologized. Well, his Twitter account apologized. Not sure if he actually did it, but the person that ran his Twitter did.”

Gargano is one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions with his DIY partner Tommaso Ciampa. They will defend the titles against The Bloodline on Smackdown tonight.
