Hello everyone and welcome to 411mania’s LIVE coverage of WWE Clash in Paris, I’m Robert Winfree and I’ll be your host. I’m going to be honest up front, I am not feeling a lot of this card on paper. I don’t think it’s bad but it feels very run of the mill, hopefully the presumably hot crowd and in ring action can overcome that. We’ve got John Cena vs. Logan Paul, Cena has framed this as a bit of a coming of age moment for Logan in the promo work leading up to this which might be a moderately interesting narrative angle to explore. Sheamus and Rusev will beat the crap out of each other, so that’ll be fun. There’s a WWE tag team title match as Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis defend against the Street Profits, the Wyatts seem like they’re being slowly herded towards Solo Sikoa and his myocarditis fueled tangents and the big question is if they want the tag belts involved with that or not. Solo already dropped the US title, thankfully, and if those two factions are going to be pitted against each other then letting the tag division get back to some normalcy with the Profits and the overall excellent Smackdown tag team scene could work. Becky Lynch takes on Nikki Bella, and Roman Reigns will battle Bronson Reed as well. Our main event is most likely the Fatal 4-Way for the world heavyweight title, Seth F. Rollins defends against CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight (yeah). Unfortunately Rollins is very unlikely to drop that belt anytime soon, but those four men should put on a decent match at least. That’s the preamble so let’s get to the action.
The fans facing the hardcam have enough red, white, and blue placards to create a French flag visual. That’s pretty neat. We see various wrestlers arriving at the venue before we get the usually great video intro for the event. We’ve got Michael Cole and Wade Barrett on commentary.
Bronson Reed comes out first, Roman wants to get paid and get out it looks like. Lots of Roman singing from the crowd, the man is still over like rover.
Match #1: Bronson Reed w/ Paul Heyman vs. Roman Reigns
They take some time trading taunts and don’t even lock up until a little over 2 minutes have passed. Neither man can get a power edge over the other, and there’s a “fuck you Bronson” chant. Roman grabs a side headlock but can’t knock over Reed on a shoulder block. Reed wants another shoulder block and Roman still can’t knock him over so Roman asks for one then intercepts Reed with punches. Some corner work from Roman then he goes for a 10 punch and gets it. Roman powers Reed up for a Samoan Drop but can’t finish it and Reed drops onto Roman to take over.
They head out of the ring then Reed hits a diving shoulder block from the apron to the floor. Reed with a Uranage onto the French announce table, then he dismantles the table. Roman fights back and rams Reed into the ring post a few times. Now Roman takes apart the other announce table but Reed then hits him with a clothesline. They head back into the ring where Roman lands a boot but he runs into a World’s Strongest Slam for a 2 count. Some headbutts from Reed then mounted punches. Some corner work from Reed then a neck crank. Roman fights up and hits the ropes but gets cut off with a back elbow.
More rest holds from Reed, for a man his size he should be able to make mat work a little more compelling than this. Roman fights up again but takes a Samoan Drop for a 2 count. Reed gets the shoes he’s taken from Roman and poses, no real heat for that but it gives Roman time to recover. A headbutt from Reed puts Roman down again and he follows with mounted strikes and headbutts. Reed goes to steal Roman’s shoes again, Roman kicks him off then avoids a corner splash. Clotheslines from Roman but he can’t get Reed to drop, and eventually he clotheslines Reed out of the ring. Roman follows him out of the ring for a Drive By kick then he rams Reed into the ring post again, then into the ring steps for good measure.
Back in the ring Roman loads up the Superman Punch but Reed counters with a Uranage then a senton for a 2 count. Reed lines up a Death Valley Driver but Roman elbows his way free then grabs a crucifix for 2. Roman tries the Superman Punch again but Reed counters with the Jagged Edge (death valley driver) and gets another 2 count. Roman blocks a powerbomb but Reed superkicks him out of the ring. Reed sets for a dive but Roman intercepts with the Superman Punch. Another Superman Punch in the ring but only a 2 count on the cover. Roman rallies the crowd and sets for a Spear but Reed counters with a kick then clotheslines Roman out of the ring and follows with a suicide dive. They head back into the ring, Reed slowly pulls himself up to the top rope but misses a Tsunami and eats the mat.
Roman lines up another Spear, but Reed just catches it and hits a sit out powerbomb for a 2 count. Reed tries another Tsunami but Roman punches him on the top rope. Roman climbs up with Reed and tries a superplex, that seems ill advised and Reed headbutts him down but Roman then hits a Superman Punch. Roman follows with an avalanche Samoan Drop. Now Roman is fired up, Spear connects and that’ll do it.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Roman Reigns won in 22:07
Rating: 3.5 stars
Thoughts: I don’t mind a deliberately paced match but this tipped a little too far from deliberate towards slow. Reed’s control segments aren’t terribly compelling yet and while Roman’s ability to fire up and rally the crowd is good the energy here was carried by the crowd because much of what was going on in the ring wasn’t helping it too much.
Roman climbs the announce table post match to celebrate, then eyes Paul Heyman in the ring with a fallen Reed. Slowly Roman climbs back into the ring and walks to Heyman who doesn’t realize he’s there. Heyman’s face when he sees Roman is priceless, he tries the old “I love you my Tribal Chief” but Roman ain’t buying it. Roman tells Heyman to give him the shoes, Heyman does and Roman poses with them then Guillotine’s Heyman. Heyman taps immediately but Roman chokes him unconscious and drops his bloated body to the mat. To close Roman signs the shoes individually then tosses them into the crowd. Of course that takes a bit too long and Bron Breakker shows up to Spear Roman through the announce table. Bron and Reed revive Heyman while officials check on Roman. Bless Heyman’s sell job on the aftermath of the Guillotine choke. Roman fights to his feet, selling the ribs and slowly walks around the ring, Bron then runs back down to Spear him again because he’s a rapid animal like that. Reed then adds to it and tosses Roman into the ring then hits a Tsunami. Well that’ll let Roman finish shooting the new Street Fighter movie in peace. They look for a stretcher job for Roman, Reed runs back down to hit another Tsunami as roman is on the backboard. This is taking way too long, we’re 11 minutes post match at this point. Jey Uso runs down to fight off Reed and Bron but Bron cuts Jey down with a Spear. Security goons show up but Reed throws another Tsunami to Roman. Yawn, this is beyond played out at this point. I don’t need 14 minutes of post match beat down on a PPV people. Roman does get the full stretcher job as commentary tries to be solemn, like we haven’t seen this once a month or so reliably on WWE programming.
In the back Adam Pearce yells at Bron and Reed, he kicks both of them out of the building and says they’ll be suspended without pay if they show back up. So between entrances, match, post match, commercial, and that spot we spent 1 hour on one match.
The Street Profits come out in Borderlands inspired gear, because Borderlands 4 is coming out and someone had to do the product placement.
Match #2 – WWE Tag Team Title Match: (c) Joe Gacy and Dexter Lumis w/ Uncle Howdy, Nikki Cross, and Erick Rowan vs. Street Profits (Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins) w/ B-Fab
25 minutes between matches. Ford and Dawkins talk about who’s starting and they argue a little about it before Dawkins and Gacy wind up starting. A flurry of strikes from Dawkins then a shoulder block. Lumis tags in and Ford blind tags, the camera missed it because they’re off their game, and Dawkins isn’t pleased with that. Some rope running then Ford lands a dropkick. Some taunting from both men, Ford flips out of a back suplex and lands a misdirection clothesline. Double Flapjack to Gacy but the Profits are still out of sorts. Ford kicks Lumis from the apron. Back in the ring Lumis knocks Ford to the floor after a Gacy distraction. Back in the ring Lumis tags out and the two work to keep Ford isolated. A few quick tags and Lumis keeps control. Gacy tags in and lands some corner strikes. Ford looks to fight back but Gacy cuts him off with a reverse headlock takeover into a chin lock. Lumis tags back in and Ford takes some tandem offense including a jumping leg drop from Lumis.
Gacy tags back in, Ford looks to fight out of the corner but can’t quite make the tag then tags a Manhattan Drop followed by a clothesline from Gacy then both men land sentons. A few more quick tags but Ford fights back. Gacy and Ford fight to the apron and Ford lands an apron suplex. Ford crawls towards Dawkins and makes the dramatic tag then Dawkins with a dive onto Gacy and Lumis. Back in the ring Dawkins keeps up the offense on Gacy and hits Lumis with a Flapjack. Corner combination to Gacy then a butterfly neckbreaker. Dawkins goes up top and hits a Swanton Bomb for a near fall. Gacy with a headbutt then Lumis tags in and Dawkins takes a back suplex and neckbreaker combination but the Wyatts can’t find a pin. Dawkins avoids a suplex and tags Ford who kicks Lumis then they hit the Pounce into back suplex but Ford can only find a 2 count. Ford goes up top but he’s still beaten down and Gacy comes over to yank down Dawkins and Lumis then rattles the ropes to crotch Ford.
Lumis climbs up with Ford, Ford shoves him down though and Gacy tags back in. Gacy runs over and jumps up to try a superplex, Dawkins tags in though as Ford stalls that. Dawkins gets Gacy in position for the Doomsday Blockbuster, that connects but Lumis saves the match. Gacy cares not for selling but runs into a spinebuster. Ford tags in, but misses From the Heavens. Lumis tags in and Gacy slams him onto Ford but Dawkins slams Gacy onto the pin to break it up. Gacy takes out Dawkins with the handspring clothesline but he misses a Lionsault then heads out of the ring. Dawkins is pissed and runs around then tackles Gacy into the barricade. That draws Rowan over to distract Dawkins and Lumis runs him over. Ford then leaps over the corner onto both of them. Back in the ring for Lumis, Nikki keeps Ford from getting in the ring and the ref misses Howdy hitting Sister Abigail. Gacy tags in, The Plague (suplex into powerbomb) from the Wyatts and that’ll do it.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy retained the titles in 13:12
Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: Good sprint style match, very little down time as the intensity picked up as the match continued. The Wyatts retaining is not a terrible call, but the tension between the Profits seemed to have spun up from no where. At this point the Profits splitting seem inevitable but they could have handled that friction a little more organically than it just showing up after one line from Bo Dallas on Friday and after their entrance went off without a hitch.
Match #3 – Women’s Intercontinental Title Match: (c) Becky Lynch vs. Nikki Bella
Nikki goes right to elbows, Becky then winds up powdering. Becky heads back into the ring but Nikki kicks her off the apron then misses a baseball slide and Becky tosses her into the ring steps. A little ringside brawling from Becky before they head into the ring. Becky goes up and hits a leg drop for a 2 count. Some corner work from Becky then a Bexploder suplex. Nikki tries to fire up but runs into a clothesline. A very poor chin lock from Becky, Nikki fights up and rams things into the corner but Becky cuts her off with a boot and clothesline. Nikki avoids a corner attack then lands some elbows and they start trading, the fans are more pro Becky as they get into a hockey fight. Clothesline from Nikki and she looks to fire up and sends Becky out of the ring.
Baseball slide from Nikki then she slams Becky around the announce tables, there’s something off about her offense in that sequence, it looks very fake. Back in the ring Nikki badly times a kick, I think she was supposed to land that but Becky wasn’t even close to her. Nikki fights off a Disarm Her then tries a Rack Attack but Becky avoids it. A few elbows from Nikki then Becky with an Eye of the Hurricane for a 2 count. A few strikes from Becky, Nikki then hits a Coconut Buster and they trade counters before Nikki lands a slap. Nikki heads up top, Becky clocks her and climbs up with her. They fight on the ropes for a bit then Becky hits a superplex for a 2 count. Armbar attempt from Becky, Nikki rolls her up though for 2 then tries the Fearless Lock. Becky counters looking for Disarm Her, Nikki just winds up hitting an Electric Chair drop. Spinebuster from Nikki gets 2.
Becky and Nikki fight around the apron and Becky kicks her down then climbs up top but misses a flying nothing. Nikki counters a Manhandle Slam and grabs the Fearless Lock. Becky fights to the ropes and that breaks the hold then Becky heads out of the ring. Nikki heads out of the ring and Becky rams her into the ring steps. Becky separates the ring step segments, Nikki avoids a Manhandle Slam and rams Becky into the ring post then hits a Bella Buster on the steps. In the ring Becky avoids a Rack Attack but Nikki hits a Manhandle Slam for a 2 count. Nikki grabs a Disarm Her, Becky slips free then grabs a backslide for the 3 count.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Becky Lynch retained the title in 13:05
Rating: 1.5 stars
Thoughts: That wasn’t great. Nikki looked rusty and her offense lacked the oomph you need to make your opponent not look like the most accommodating of stunt people. Becky, the heel, was cheered by the end of this as well which should tell you about all you need to know.
In the back Pearce talks with Jey Uso, Jey insists he can wrestle tonight despite taking the Spear earlier. Jey wont be kept out of the match it seems.
Time for Sheamus and Rusev to tear things up, hopefully they can deliver a genuinely good match because this event needs it.
Match #4 – Donnybrook Match: Sheamus vs. Rusev
They get right into the hockey fight brawl. Sheamus with some body blows and uppercuts but Rusev fights back with punches. Double leg from Sheamus and they roll on the mat trading punches before eventually spilling to the floor. Sheamus is able to ram Rusev into the ring post then gets the Slim Jim sponsored table out and sets it up. Rusev then runs Sheamus into the ring post and sets up his own table beside the first. With the tables set up they resume brawling then fight over a suplex spot and Sheamus hits one on the floor. Rusev gets rammed into the barricade a few times before they head back into the ring. Sheamus gets a shillelagh but Rusev cracks him with a kendo stick. More stick shots from Rusev to welt up the pale skin of Sheamus. Rusev goes Bodhran beating to add insult to injury. Next Rusev removes a turnbuckle cover but Sheamus fights back and hits an Irish Curse. Now Sheamus gets the kendo stick and starts whacking Rusev with it for a bit.
Sheamus goes under the ring and finds a few chairs which he positions in the ring, then he uses one to swing a Rusev but he misses and Rusev hits the leaping heel kick to drive the chair into Sheamus for a 2 count. Rusev with some chair shots to Sheamus then he wedges the chair in a corner. Sheamus starts asking for more strikes, Rusev kicks him but Sheamus fires up then catches a chair shot and hits a running knee to floor Rusev for a 2 count. Now it’s Sheamus who goes Bodhran beating until Rusev collapses to the floor. Sheamus follows him but Rusev sends him over a wooden bar, then Rusev tries to hit him with a stool but Sheamus blocks that and hits another series of Bodhran beats over the bar. Rusev staggers away and heads over the barricade, Sheamus catches him though and we get shillelagh assisted Bodhran beats over the barricade. They head back into the ring and Sheamus tries White Noise but Rusev avoids it only to then get rammed into the chair and Sheamus follows with a Razor’s Edge for a near fall.
Sheamus lines up for a Brogue Kick, but Rusev rolls out of the ring to avoid it. That leads to Sheamus going up top and diving down to the floor but he flies into a kendo stick shot. Rusev rams Sheamus into the ring steps which dislodges the steps parts, so Rusev then cracks Sheamus with the steps for good measure. Rusev drags the bar until it’s adjacent with one of the ring steps base, then he pulls Sheamus up and hits a Uranage through the front of the bar. They move around and Rusev shoves things back into the ring then locks in The Accolade. Sheamus is in trouble but we haven’t broken the sponsored tables yet so he fights up and drops Rusev onto a couple of chairs that were on the mat. Both men stagger and roll to the floor. Sheamus tosses Rusev into the time keepers area, then they fight up onto the barrels that overlook the sponsored tables.
Rusev trips Sheamus down onto the barrels then climbs up onto them and locks in the Accolade again, but falls only count in the ring for this. Sheamus isn’t the tapping kind though and he fights up, then crushes Rusev through the tables below with a White Noise. Well that’s all the hardware, sponsored or otherwise, so we can get the finishing stretch now. Rusev pulls himself into the ring, Sheamus follows as Rusev reaches for a shillelagh. Sheamus avoids the shillelagh blow and lands a Brogue Kick but only a near fall. OK, I bit on that one. Machka kick from Rusev, Sheamus with a knee. Rusev then Machka kicks Sheamus into the exposed turnbuckle then he crushes Sheamus with a shillelagh shot but Rusev only gets a near fall from all that. Shillelagh assisted Accolade from Rusev and Sheamus finally has to tap out.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Rusev won in 20:05
Rating: 4.5 stars
Thoughts: Well that was darn good, which isn’t surprising at all given Rusev and Sheamus are both really good in this kind of environment. Both men looked good, they kept up the energy, brought the ring kind of physical violence. I think the only major gripe I have is the obvious structure at play and while that keeps it out of 5 star territory it’s still a really good fight style match.
Logan Paul gets showered with boos in his entrance, he might be the most over heel WWE has since now people are ironically cheering unwashed Mysterio. Seeing the entire crowd turn to watch the entrance before Cena’s music hits is a really cool moment. Cena gets his special introduction as well after a “thank you Cena” chant and some singing from the crowd.
Match #5: John Cena vs. Logan Paul
The crowd is vocally behind Cena as they tie up, Logan then grabs a side headlock. Cena counters into one of his own then Logan gets to the ropes to force the break. Test of strength spot now, Cena is stronger so Logan stomps on the foot then lands a right hand. Some corner strikes from Logan and Cena crumples under the weight of the body blows. Cena fights back and goes for a 10 punch and gets it then follows with a monkey flip but Logan lands on his feet then boots Cena down. Logan taunts the crowd then lands an uppercut. Cena avoids an uppercut and floors Logan with a clothesline to put both men down.
Corner strikes from Cena now, then Logan boots his way out of a corner and hits a Blockbuster for a 2 count. Stalling suplex from Logan, pretty weak time held up, then he grabs a chin lock. Song from the crowd to rally Cena but Logan hits a gutwrench suplex for a 2 count. Corner uppercut from Logan, he ain’t Claudio and that looked poor though. Cena intercepts a running Logan with another clothesline and both men are down again. Again the crowd sing for Cena and he fires up with the 5 Moves of Doom. Logan avoids the Attitude Adjustment and heads to the apron then hits a Buckshot Lariat, not his best one as he needed to find his footing again, but it gets a 2 count.
Logan heads up top but Cena gets his knees up to block the Paul from Grace then hits an Attitude Adjustment for a near fall. If you bit on that one I pity you. Logan avoids a second Attitude Adjustment and grabs an Octopus Clutch. Cena powers out of that and they trade holds then Cena grabs an STFU. Logan pulls himself to the ropes then kicks Cena away. Boot from Cena then a diving tornado DDT for a 2 count. Logan counters another Attitude Adjustment and hits an Overbomb for a 2 count. Both men pull themselves up in the ropes, Logan wants the punch but Cena avoids it and lands shoulder blocks again but Logan avoids the Proto Bomb and hits a Zig Zag for a 2 count.
Logan wants another Buckshot but Cena counters into an End of Days for a near fall. Cena tries an Attitude Adjustment but Logan counters then goes up top for the Swanton Bomb then a standing moonsault for a 2 count. Logan with a corner uppercut again, but the crowd distracts him and he misses the second then Cena with an Angel’s Wings for a 2 count. They fight up and start trading strikes but Logan hits a pop up uppercut, don’t crib from Claudio Castagnoli if you’re not Claudio and Logan definitely isn’t Claudio, Logan’s stuff from him looks poor. There’s blood on Logan’s face but now he fires up and hits Cena’s 5 Moves of Doom but takes too long on the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and Cena hits an Attitude Adjustment for another near fall.
They get back to trading strikes, Cena with headbutts then a hurricanrana and a Code Red but he can’t find the 3 count. Logan avoids another Attitude Adjustment then hits the knockout punch but Cena kicks at 2. Logan kips up after that then goes up top, Paul From Grace connects but he wants another one but still only finds a 2 count. Again Logan kips up, he wants the 5 Knuckle Shuffle and hits it then follows with an attempted Attitude Adjustment but Cena counters into a nice looking Styles Clash but only a near fall again. The crowd then do the Styles song.
Cena pulls Logan up top then goes up with him for the avalanche Attitude Adjustment but Logan fights off and shoves Cena down then jumps but Cena catches and rolls through then hits an Attitude Adjustment. Logan avoids another Attitude Adjustment and hits a right hand but Cena comes off the ropes, dodges a right hand and hits a final Attitude Adjustment to win.
OFFICIAL RESULT: John Cena won in 26:25
Rating: 4.5 stars
Thoughts: A little too slow to get the full boat, I get that Logan’s taunting and crowd work is a part of his gimmick but he hasn’t quite figured out how to reliably use it to maximum effect. This also got a little overdone with false finishes as Cena really wanted to play all the hits and remind us that he can still go while Logan’s offense seemed to wane down the stretch in a few ways that I’m not sure were fully intended. Still, Logan held up his end and Cena at this point can do no wrong for the crowds.
Cena celebrates with the fans post match, and frankly good luck following that given just how invested the crowd was.
We get the crowd numbers announcement, biggest crowd in venue history.
In the back Jackie has been stonewalled by Seth Rollins, Rollins comes by and when asked about being divested of his support structure and goons he says he’s already 2 steps ahead. The man is sporting a bit of a black eye. He says being alone doesn’t put him at a disadvantage, he’s chosen his lackeys but doesn’t need them and has never needed anyone other than the booker behind him. If he can’t defend the title by himself maybe he shouldn’t be champion. Yeah that’s more than enough telegraphing for me, they’re definitely pulling a new member into the goon squad tonight.
Match #6 – World Heavyweight Title Fatal 4-Way: (c) Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk vs. Jey Uso vs. LA Knight
Some jaw jacking from everyone then Punk kicks Jey down to the floor. Knight and Punk menace Rollins but he bails. Some strikes from Knight and Punk now and Knight lands a hip toss. Punk and Knight fight in the corner, Punk has green and grey that’s supposed to be silver I think as he’s trying to channel Misawa. Rollins gets back into play but Jey hits him with a crossbody. Jey clotheslines Rollins out of the ring then tries to dive but Punk intercepts him withe a clothesline. Punk with some strikes to Jey, Jey misses a corner splash as well to let Punk retain control. Rollins pulls Punk out of the ring and rams him into the barricade. That let’s Rollins go after Jey with a knee strike but Knight then attacks him. Knight and Jey take turns beating up Rollins for a bit. That leads to Rollins leaving and Jey and Knight work now with Jey landing a Samoan Drop. Jey tries a hip attack but Rollins yanks him over the top rope then hits a hip attack of his own on Knight. Some control from Rollins now, which grinds things down to a halt for a while before all three men circle him. Rollins asks for help but there’s no one and all three men stomp him down for a bit.
Eventually everyone gets chippy taking turns stomping on Rollins in the corner which leads to Punk and Knight arguing. Jey plays peacemaker and says all three of them should beat down Rollins, that leads to a Punk knee, Knight knee, and Jey hip attack. Knight then says they should put Rollins through a table and Punk tells Jey to get the tables. All three of them do it anyway but it was a Dudley call back. The Slim Jim table is set up on the floor, then Jey superkicks Punk because payback sucks. Knight clotheslines Rollins over the barricade then Jey superkicks Knight. Jey follows Rollins into the crowd and starts brawling with him through the crowd. Knight shows up and lays into Rollins, battering him back to the ringside area where Punk jumps onto both of them. Rollins crawls into the ring, Punk then hits a crossbody followed by a clothesline and swinging neckbreaker. Corner knee from Punk then a clothesline. Punk wants Go To Sleep, but Jey’s here to superkick him then follow up with a swinging enziguri. Hip attack to Rollins then one for Punk as well. Knight shows up and hits Jey with an inverted Death Valley Driver, Punk then hits Knight with a Shining Wizard and Rollins hits Punk with a Pedigree to put everyone down.
Rollins with a buckle bomb to Knight for a 2 count. Rollins then goes up top, Frog Splash to Jey but Jey still kicks at 2. Jey gets pushed out of the ring so Rollins can work one on one with Knight for a bit. Rollins stomps on Knight for a bit, Knight then fights back with punches and a jumping clothesline. Russian leg sweep from Knight then a neckbreaker for Jey and power slam for Punk. Rollins runs into a Knight DDT and Knight then goes to the second rope for the jump up elbow on Rollins. Knight wants Blunt Force Trauma but Jey superkicks him to break that up. Jey climbs up top, Rollins jumps up with him but Jey headbutts him down then Knight jumps up for the superplex but Punk comes over to make it a Tower of Doom spot but Punk can’t find a pin on anyone.
Punk heads to the apron with Rollins, he wants a Russian leg sweep through the table that’s still set up, they fight over who’s going through it and eventually Rollins heads back into the ring where Knight clotheslines him. Knight then knocks Punk off the apron sort of through the table. Rollins tries to Stomp Knight but Knight dodges then hits Blunt Force Trauma to Rollins but Jey breaks up the pin to save the match. Jey and Knight start trading strikes with Jey getting the better of things but Jey avoids a charge and sends Jey out of the ring then follows with a diving baseball slide. Knight starts bouncing Jey off the announce table. Rollins comes over and gets the same treatment. Now Knight clears the French announce table, he puts Rollins on it then heads to the top rope, he wants the jump up elbow through the table but Jey disrupts things so Rollins gets out of the way and Knight crashes through the table to probably take himself out of the match. Jey then dives onto Rollins for good measure.
Back in the ring Jey goes up but has a flying nothing then Rollins lands a superkick but Jey returns it. Rollins counters a Spear with a Pedigree for a 2 count. Now Rollins goes up top again, misses the Phoenix Splash because he never hits it, Jey then hits a series of superkicks and a Spear. Jey up top, Splash connects but Punk breaks up the pin with a diving elbow. Punk with a Go To Sleep on Jey but Rollins Stomps Punk to break up the pin but Punk still kicks at 2. Rollins with trash talk to Punk, he then heads out to get a chair, he also Stomps on Jey on the floor, then one for Knight as well to keep Punk isolated. The chair is set up in the ring, Rollins puts Punk’s head on it and goes to Stomp him on the chair but Punk moves and Punk Stomps the chair. Go To Sleep to Rollins, Punk then gets set for a second one but here’s Becky Lynch in a hoodie to hit Punk with a low blow and save his title run. Rollins then Stomps Punk on the chair and retains.
OFFICIAL RESULT: Seth Rollins retained the title in 24:50
Rating: 3 stars
Thoughts: That wasn’t it for me. Predictable outcome, a few decent spots but the lack of drama really hurt this. The crowd being into the match helped a lot but something about this just didn’t click when it was all said and done.
Becky celebrates with her husband as the show ends. That’ll conclude Clash in Paris. Thank you for reading, be that live or after the fact. You can find me covering Smackdown every Friday, UFC events most Saturdays, and occasionally I pinch hit for stuff like this. Until next time thank you again, stay safe out there and keep checking 411mania for all of your pop culture needs.
