AEW TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher has clarified his recent comments related to All In: Texas and has also offered an apology. Fletcher received heat from fans recently for saying that All In: Texas was one of the worst days of his life.

Fletcher was initially scheduled to take on Cole for the TNT Championship at AEW’s showpiece event last July. However, Cole suffered a career-threatening injury during a match involving Kyle Fletcher on the go-home episode of Collision.

An understandably dejected Cole appeared at All In: Texas to address fans, alluding that he may never wrestle again. In a recent interaction with Soundscape Magazine, Kyle Fletcher described the event as one of the worst days of his life, leading many to suggest that his comment was insensitive.

On Unlikely, The ProtoStar apologized for his comment, admitting that he got the wording wrong while explaining his emotions that day. Fletcher then explained that he was strictly talking from his own perspective and didn’t mean to demean Cole’s story.

The Australian added that it was the worst day of his life because he had to watch a guy he had always admired say he may never wrestle and then go out and perform, knowing that he and the crowd knew that it was “probably” his fault.

Kyle Fletcher on his recent statement related to AEW All In Texas:

“Yeah, that comment that I made the other day—I was very upset with myself for the way I worded it. I would like to apologize for the way I spoke and the words that I used. I think the words I used were a bit insensitive, saying it was one of the worst days of my life. My thought process when I was answering that was I never want to talk about somebody else’s story. That whole situation, a lot of it is Adam’s story to tell, so when that question was asked, they asked me about my emotions, so I did my best to kind of not address what happened with Adam to the best of my ability and just focus on how I felt. Truthfully, that was one of the worst days of my life.

“There’s this weird thing nowadays where kayfabe exists but it kind of doesn’t. All the stuff that happened with him, I have people in my ear kind of saying, ‘Oh, you should be saying in promos that you injured Adam Cole and using it for heat or whatever.’ I never felt good about that. So I’ve tried my best to stay away from talking about it. But one of the reasons it was one of the worst days of my life is because I had to watch someone that I admire very much and look up to stand in the ring, cry, and say that he might never wrestle again. Then I had to go out into the ring and perform, knowing that it was possibly my fault, that everybody in the arena knew it was my fault. I’m sure you can imagine the headspace. It was a rush of emotions. The whole situation was horrible.

“Again, I really don’t like talking about it. I don’t feel like I have the right to complain about any of it because what Adam is going through and has gone through, my feelings pale in comparison to it. But I was asked about my feelings that day when I answered the question. So that’s what I tried to talk about. Again, I apologize. I think I used some pretty bad wording, but those were my genuine feelings.”
