Latest On Kairi Sane Following Release Ahead Of WWE Backlash

Kairi Sane was released from WWE last month, but a new report suggests she might still be making at least one more appearance. As noted, Sane was among the more than 20 talent let go by the company the weekend of April 23rd. A number of both current and former talent have expressed shock at Sane’s release for several reasons, not the least of which was that she was involved in the feud between Asuka and IYO SKY.
According to F4W Online’s Bryan Alvarez, Sane may not yet be completely done with the company. Alvarez said that there is a “belief” in WWE that Sane may make an appearance at WWE Backlash, where Asuka and SKY are set to compete.
Alvarez noted that it is believed within WWE that “there is a better than 50% chance” that Sane shows up, at least so they can finish the storyline. It’s not clear whether, if she does show up, it would be a one-off or a return.
To be completely clear, Alvarez is reporting on the belief among people backstage in the company and has not said that there is a confirmed plan to bring Sane back. Sane was involved in the lengthy storyline that saw SKY split from Asuka and Sane. Asuka has been bullying Sane as her subordinate for months since the split.
WWE Backlash takes place on May 9th from Benchmark International Arena in Tampa, Florida on May 9th. It will air on ESPN Unlimited in the US and Netflix internationally.
