A new report has a big update on “Road Dogg” Brian James potentially coming on board TNA, and it involves Slammiversary. As has been reported, TNA has discussed bringing in the former WWE Smackdown co-lead writer in the wake of their letting Tommy Dreamer go last week. Dreamer was released from his position at TNA last Wednesday.
According to PWInsider (per Wrestling Inc), James is set to attend Sunday’s TNA Slammiversay PPV. The report goes on to say that James was initially pitched a producer role in TNA, though that has changed since Dreamer was let go. One source pointed out that James is close with Johnny Russo, who is the head writer of NXT. That could lead to a stronger dynamic to the partnership between NXT and TNA.
It is, to be clear, not yet being reported that James has joined TNA or even confirmed that he will. He has filled a number of backstage roles in WWE in the past and has worked for TNA before, back during the 2000s.
TNA Slammiversary takes place on June 28th from the Agganis Arena in Boston, Massachusetts and airs live on PPV.
