Leon Slater is the new #1 contender for the NXT Championship, winning a title shot against Oba Femi on this week’s WWE NXT. Slater won a Fatal Four-Way match in the main event of Tuesday’s show to secure a title shot. He defeated Joe Hendry, Myles Borne, and Dion Lennox to get the win.
The TNA X-Division Champion picked up the win in a little over 16 minuts. The finish came when Lennox fought Hendry to the top of the ramp. That allowed Slater to hit a Frog Splash on Bourne to cover and get the win. Highlights from the match are below.
After the match, Femi came out to the entranceway to star down Slater. As the two stared off, the camera zoomed in on Tony D’Angelo standing in the back of the audience. D’Angelo made his return at NXT Deadline to attack Je’Von Evans. He also attacked Ethan Page last week.
The match between Slater and Femi is set for NXT New Year’s Evil on January 6th. You can see the updated lineup below for the show, which takes place from the Performance Center and airs on The CW and Netflix internationally:
* NXT Championship Match: Oba Femi vs. Leon Slater.
* NXT Women’s Championship Match: Jacy Jayne vs. Kendal Grey.
