Mick Foley didn’t have to wait long to come face-to-face with MJF, who confronted Foley on the AEW Double Or Nothing: Zero Hour pre-show. As noted, Foley made his AEW debut on the pre-show, working alongside Renee Paquette as an analyst.
At the end of the pre-show, Paquette asked Foley for his prediction of MJF vs. Darby Allin. Foley said that MJF was fighting not to lose his hair while Allin was fighting to win, giving his prediction that Allin would retain the AEW World Championship.
That brought MJF down to the ring. He took verbal shots at Foley and the New York crowd and said that Foley became famous by failing at everything he did. Foley acknowledged that he lost a lot of matches but won a few too, mentioning his victories against The Rock — who drew boos from the crowd. He said that he was content to steal the show, but Allin is not and would win the title and take MJF’s hair.
MJF then hit Foley with a low blow kick before setting up to punch him with the Dynamite Diamond Ring. Allin ran down to make the save. Foley put Allin over and said that like him, Allin was the weird kid never picked for stardom but showed he could become a star. He told told Allin to win one tonight for the weird ones.
