UPDATE: Fightful has more details on when CM Punk made a past wrestling appearance that was incognito similar to when he made a masked appearance in disguise at MKE Wrestling’s The Last Night. Per Fightful, Punk made a masked appearance at a Freelance Wrestling event on December 4, 2015, which was called Raw Power.

During the show, Punk managed Kikutaro in a match against Darin Corbin and Dick Justice. Before the match, Punk wore a cloak and tossed out salt. Commentators called him the “nameless mentor” for Kikutaro. He didn’t get involved during the match.

Additionally, Fightful reports that there was a plan to reveal the appearance on Wrestling Road Diaries 3 documentary with Punk’s former friend, Colt Cabana. However, the falling out of Punk and Cabana put a stop to that. People involved with the production of the documentary opted not to comment. You can check out some photos of Punk’s appearance at the December 2015 show below.

The full event is available at Independent Wrestling.tv.

ORIGINAL: CM Punk became the subject of speculation when a masked man hit the ring at an indy show on Friday night, and apparently it really was him. Wrestling Inc says that they can confirm it was Punk who appeared in a mask at MKE Wrestling’s “The Last Knight” event to help Ace Steel beat Daryck St. Holmes with a GTS.

According to the site, there was originally a plan to take the mask off and reveal himself after hitting St. Holmes with his finisher, but that of course didn’t end up happening. Punk waited in his car outside the arena before he came in for the appearance, and then left immediately after.

The site also notes that Punk was wearing the same hoodie he wore at a Brazilian jiu-jitsu tournament earlier in the day. MLB Network reporter Jon Alba shared a side-by-side picture of Punk at the BJJ show and the masked man that you can see below:
