Mustafa Ali Says He Was Blown Away by the Response to His Match With Jason Hotch

During a recent interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, TNA Wrestling star Mustafa Ali revealed that he’s been getting rave reviews from individuals in other organizations outside of TNA Wrestling about his recent International Title Match with Jason Hotch on the July 30 edition of TNA iMPACT! The title bout saw Hotch pull off a huge upset to win the belt. Below are some highlights from Fightful:

Mustafa Ali on the Fear People Expected Him To Beat Jason Hotch

“The big fear going into it is that we kind of went under the assumption that the crowd knows that I’m going to win. It didn’t feel like that, though. I feel like the viewers did. In the arena, I felt the rumble. It’s one thing that if they know, but they wanted Hotch to win. In my mind, I was like, ‘Oh man, we got something here.’ Just from the bell, you know? So, it was a very unique and very special match. Hell of a fall through that table; do not recommend it. Probably won’t try that one again. Hotch got pretty banged up, I got pretty banged up, but we are able to gut it out.

On the Response From the Match, Including From People in Other Organizations

“It kind of blows me away that this happened a week or so ago and people are still talking about it. Matt Hardy had some very kind things to say on his podcast. What really blew me away is that people outside of TNA, from other organizations, were texting me about it, saying that it was something special. So, as heavy as my heart is that I’ve lost my beloved International Championship, but I’m also very fulfilled with how that match went.”

Hotch ended Mustafa Ali’s 110-day reign as champion. It’s also Hotch’s first title reign in TNA Wrestling.
