During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, TNA Wrestling star Nic Nemeth heavily praised the presentation of last week’s AEW Dynamite in Las Vegas, comparing it to old-school versions of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Nic Nemeth on the Opening of the Show Being Reminiscent of Saturday Night’s Main Event
“They opened the show much like an old school Saturday Night’s Main Event. I almost felt like the music was ticking in the background. They went to MJF, they went to his opponent…they were like ‘Hey, we’ve got this title eliminator match. Then we have a tag team eliminator match.'”
On How the Whole Night Felt Special
“And they built it up like it was a big special night, and with the title matches, even though they were eliminators and whatever the situations were. But you still get Idolo and Kenny, and…it seemed like a big night. It felt like a PPV. And the way they get everybody excited at the beginning, I thought that was beautiful.”
The main event of last week’s show saw Brody king beat MJF in a Title Eliminator Match. As a result, King now receives a shot against MJF at AEW Grand Slam Australia on February 14.
Elsewhere, Andrade El Idolo beat Kenny Omega in a AEW World Championship Contenders Series Match. Also, Ricochet successfully defended the AEW National Title against Jack Perry. Also, the team of Megan Bayne & Penelope Ford scored a huge upset, beating the reigning AEW World Tag Team Champs the Babes of Wrath (Harley Cameron & Willow Nightingale) an AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Match.
