The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE President Nick Khan spoke to the talent prior to AAA Triplemania XXXII last Saturday in Mexico City. Khan reportedly told them that WWE was not there to take over the product and wanted to help the promotion gain a worldwide audience. He said the ultimate goal was to get everyone involved more money.
Multiple wrestlers said that they were hopeful that WWE wasn’t taking over but with the new restrictions in their contracts, it complicates things. They are allowed to have bookings in Mexico during a day off, but they cant’ take any US bookings the same night in a city they worked regularly, which would pay them twenty times what they’re making. It was noted that AAA talent are seemingly not allowed to work independent Lucha or regular events in the United States, but can do so in Mexico.
