As we reported yesterday, NJPW has announced that they will finally return on June 15 with the beginning of the New Japan Cup, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has now announced several guidelines for both fans and wrestlers. These include:

– Wrestlers will have their temperature taken two times a day and keep a log of who they have been in contact with. If there are any symptoms of COVID-19, they have to tell the staff and go into immediate quarantine.

– There will be a smaller attendance at the venues and shows will be shorter. All wrestlers and staff have to wear a mask and there will be logs of how long they are at the venue. They also have to leave the venue after ‘their objective has been completed’ and conversations should be kept to a minimum.

– Locker rooms will be zoned and have staggered entry. Each wrestler’s food and drink will have their name written on it. There will be no buffet-style catering. NJPW will individually pack containers for the wrestlers.

– The ring and ringside will be cleaned and disinfected between matches.

– Fans will be allowed in Osaka Jo Hall at 33% capacity on July 11-12. Guidelines are also in place for fans. Fans have to wear a mask and not intentionally touch the wrestlers. There must be no loud cheering. If symptoms are present two weeks after an event, NJPW must be told.
