Tonight’s New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) New Japan Cup Night 12 event was temporarily interrupted by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.0 on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred during the tag team match featuring Kota Ibushi, Kazuchika Okada, Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Yujiro Takahashi, Jay White, and KENTA.

The show was stopped while the crew performed safety checks. It was noted that the event would need to possibly be canceled in the event of any aftershocks. But the match and the rest of the event did resume as scheduled without any additional apparent incidents. The rest of the event did conclude with both New Japan Cup semifinal matchups taking place.

AP News reports that the earthquake struck off Northern Japan earlier today. It shook buildings and did trigger a tsunami warning for the north coast. Thankfully, no major damage was reported. The Tsunami warning was lifted about 90 minutes after the earthquake.

You can see some clips from the tag team match when the Earthquake struck Japan and interrupted the event that were posted on Twitter below. The earthquake caused clear, noticeable shaking to the Xebio Arena Sendai where the NJPW event was being held. Thankfully, everyone at the event is OK, and there appears to be no major damage or injuries caused by the earthquake thus far.
