Notes From 24/7 Title Change At Drake Maverick’s Wedding: Maverick Pitched The Idea, Impact Wrestler Kiera Hogan At Wedding

PWInsider reports that the idea of R-Truth sneaking into Drake Maverick’s wedding and pinning him to win back the 24/7 championship was actually an idea that Maverick pitched to WWE officials and WWE loved it. As we noted earlier today, WWE released footage of the incident, which showed Truth showing up just after the “I dos” take place. Of course the footage was actually shot after Maverick’s wedding to Renee Michelle was over.

NXT writer Joseph Belcastro played the pastor for the WWE footage.

Braun Strowman, EC3, Jeremy Borash and Cheerleader Melissa (Alyssa Flash) were all legitimately part of the wedding party. Other wrestling names part of the ceremony included TJ Wilson, Natalya, former LAX member Diamante and Impact Wrestling star Kiera Hogan.

WWE also shot more footage after the title change but it’s unknown when or if it will be used.
