The Revival (Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder) defeated The Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler & Wesley Blake) in a solid and adequate tag team match.
EC3 beat Fabian Aichner. Good showcase for EC3.
Nikki Cross & Kairi Sane defeated Reina González & Taynara Conti in a very fun match. Cross and Sane have great chemistry and made a great oddball team. They were way over and put on a very entertaining match even though Reina is very green. After the match Kari and Nikki did each others ring antics. I have a new favorite tag team. I call them Sane and Insane.
Undisputed Era (Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) squeaked by The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) After the match the UE beat on the Street Profits until The Revival came out for the save. Scott Dawson got on the mic and put over NXT and the current tag teams and saying they wanted to test their mettle against them and that they are set to go for the tag team titles and seek to be three time champs. They then did some crowd pleasing antics with the Street Profits.
Oney Lorcan beat Kona Reeves. Before the match could star Lars Sullivan’s music hit and he came out. Kona ran away but Oney stood his ground and had a Freak Accident. Lars then declared his intentions to become NXT Champion in Chicago. When he left Kona came back and had the ref ring the bell and tried to pick the bones of Lorcan but it backfired and he lost. After Lorcan left Lars came back out and Kona tried to make friends to no avail as Lars destroyed him. Went to leave but returned and destroyed him further. And one more time for good measure. Kona had heat from the crowd.
Chad Lail defeated Kassius Ohno. The former Gunner from TNA had a good match against Ohno where the crowd turned on Kassius and Chad mania erupted. Chad went over to the delight of the crowd. There were Chad chants the rest of the night and even at the end of the event as Ricochet said good night to the crowd he mentioned Chad to cheers. I even suspect that Ohno made the call in the ring to have Chad go over due to the unusual reaction. As at the end of the match Ohno pointed to the crowd and then to Chad and then gave Chad some applause. Very interesting match.
Shayna Baszler (c) tapped out Dakota Kai in a defense of her NXT Women’s Championship. Dakota was ever bit the plucky underdog white meat babyface and the crowd were behind her as she gave a good go of it. But Baszler dominated and kept her title. She then proceeded to attack Kai after the match bringing out Nikki Cross to the delight of the crowd. Baszler wanted no part of her and left. Cross helped Kai to the back.
Ricochet beat The Velveteen Dream in the main event. Great match as expected. Lots of great spots and action. Dream worked the crowd very well. The spot of the night was when Dream attempted to Irish Whip Richochet into the barricade. Ricochet jumped over the barricade onto the stage reversed his posistion and took a running dive off the stage with a 180 flip onto Velveteen, while landing on his feet to a resounding pop and the proverbial “Holy Shit” chants. Ricochet closed the show talking to the crowd.
