Note on One More Match for Bryan Danielson

Is Bryan Danielson really fully retired from in-ring action? In wrestling journalist Sean Ross Sapp’s opinion, you shouldn’t start chanting “Yes!” in response just yet.
Danielson’s last match was a year ago, in an 8-second dark match squash loss to Max Caster, following his supposed official final match to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream in 2024. That’s not the sort of thing that bothers Danielson much, as he infamously lost a World Title match to Sheamus at WrestleMania in 18 seconds. But Sapp thinks he has a better final match in him still.
Writing in this week’s Fightful Select Q&A, Sapp opined that, “He’s about two years away from his last real match, but I think he would be able to have a good match in his sleep. I think every day is sort of a rehab for him.” While Danielson has no problem putting people over, it would make sense to give someone else the final rub on a grander stage than a Collision pre-show. Sapp just thinks he’s going to be very responsible about it, and not take hugely unnecessary risks. Danielson has a history of concussions that prompted his initial retirement in 2016 prior to his AEW stint.
There are certainly many worthy opponents in that locker room, should he decide to challenge one.
