With the recent uptick in wrestling legends stepping aside from the ring, fans are looking for names that might return to the ring in their place. Bryan Danielson is one of those wrestlers that many fans would like to see compete again. He did commentary for AEW Dynamite in late 2025 while Taz was recuperating from shoulder replacement surgery.
As long as Bryan Danielson’s still around somewhere in the wrestling business, people will wonder when he’s going to wrestle again. He’s declined to say that he’s “retired”. Bryan talked to Justin Barrasso of Undisputed about his current feelings about returning to the ring.
On Meeting with Adam Copeland’s Physical Therapist
“I don’t close it off. Maybe. In April of 2025, Adam Copeland sent me to his physical therapist. He said the guy was a miracle worker. This guy worked on me for two days in a row, six hours each day. After the first night, I slept nine hours straight. After the second night, I slept eight hours straight. After that, I was sleeping seven or eight hours almost every night. That’s a game changer for how you feel.”
On The Difficulties of Traveling
“The traveling is so hard on my neck. Once I started traveling again, I went back to sleeping four-and-a-half hours a night. There was a point around Forbidden Door that I had delusions of wrestling a couple of nights a year. After traveling for commentary, I don’t see how it would be possible. And that’s without bumps.”
Danielson hasn’t competed on AEW programming since WrestleDream 2024, where he lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley. He answered Max Caster’s open challenge at the June 25, 2025 Collision taping in Kent, Washington, defeating Caster in eight seconds in a bout that was not aired.
