Early in his career, Paul Wight found himself cast in movies due to his tremendous size and personality, much as Andre the Giant had before. While he tried to be modest and respectful at all times, realizing he was a rookie in the business who could learn a thing or two, he told TMZ Sports recently about an awkward moment with Jingle All the Way producer Chris Columbus.

“One day we were on set and everybody’s there, everybody’s dressed up, but we’re not doing anything. We’re not shooting,” he recalled. “And the scuttlebutt was we were looking for some kind of a lens that they wanted to shot from up top that shot the entire toy warehouse scene. And apparently it was some kind of expensive bubble lens and there was only three in LA at the time and they had to rent it. But the other companies that were renting them hadn’t brought it back in time. And so there were a lot of money people that were pretty upset that day, run around trying to scramble cuz this thing costs money and they were trying to get little shots here and there.”

“I used to sit right next to where all the monitors were and and try to learn something new on set. You know, I figured, better keep your keep your mouth shut, your eyes and ears open. And I mean, Arnold Schwarzenegger’s there, everybody that’s there I’ve seen on TV and stuff. So, this guy comes in and sits next to me. He’s kind of sweaty. He obviously had just come back from a jog and he had little round glasses on. He said I thought he was a sound guy, like the guy that do the mics and and stuff.”

“So, you know, I had had some fun talking to the crew and stuff. I like to talk to everybody. And I kind of elbowed the guy sitting next to me and I said, ‘Hey, you believe how much freaking money they waste on stuff? There’s waiting all day for a lens? I mean, God, that’s absolutely crazy to me that they throw away that much money.’ The guy goes, ‘Yeah, it is pretty crazy.’ I went, ‘Hey, I’m I’m Paul Wight. I’m the Giant in WCW. He goes, ‘Hi, I’m Christopher Columbus.’ Oh, shit. Yeah, that’s right. You’re the reason I’m in this. But yeah, thanks, dude. I’m going to go sit over here and keep my mouth shut.”
