WWE Superstar R-Truth joined The Breakfast Club on Power 105.1 FM, where he discussed WWE: Unreal Season 2, in which Truth is one of the featured subjects. During Season 2, Episode 2, “The Truth,” WWE Chief Creative Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque spoke about the contract situation with R-Truth, denying that the wrestler was ever fired by WWE.

Triple H says regarding R-Truth in his testimonial, “He immediately went out on social media and said he was fired, which he was never fired, contrary to prior belief. He was never not under contract for us.”

When asked about Triple H’s comments in the episode, R-Truth responded, explaining why, from his point of view, it felt like a firing. The former WWE US Champion explained, “Okay, let me ask you this then. I got the call, right? If I got my agent working on this end with their agent. I’m just, I would stay out of that, right? Let them handle that thing. I get a call from this side saying, ‘We’re not going to renew your contract, or however it was. You’re not going to.’ So, do I come to work? It’s Sunday. Next Sunday, when my contract was supposed to be in, right? So, do I come to work? ‘No, don’t come to work.'”

He continued, “‘Oh, okay.’ ‘Am I done now?’ ‘Yes.’ There was no flight, no calendar. What do you call that?” One of the other hosts responded to R-Truth’s question, “Sounds like a firing.”

R-Truth went on, “But I mean, but it’s all I don’t know if it’s all the same or if it’s different. If it ain’t, I mean, I guess I’m unintentionally creative. That’s what it felt like.”

One of the hosts also went to further quote Triple H, who voiced that he had never intended to fire R-Truth or push him out, and that his hope was that by allowing the deal to expire without immediate renewal that it would prompt R-Truth to reopen dialogue with WWE. R-Truth responded, “That’s why I said in the top my agent and they people was talking, and I was staying out of that. But I got a call from this person that said boom. So I wasn’t even in the dialogue situation or the dialogue conversation. You know what I’m saying?”

R-Truth added on why “it felt like a firing,” stating, “This is my first time even having an agent handle my business. You know what I’m saying? I’ve always from me telling you from Georgia to NWA Wildside this I’ve always done my own business. This is my first time having to where I stayed out of dialogue. So that’s where I took it. It felt like a firing to me, and that’s when I paused, took that moment. I couldn’t really I couldn’t figure out how I felt.”

When asked if it felt sudden or like something that might happen, R-Truth replied, “No, it was sudden. It was a negotiation. So I thought So I was told it was a negotiation. So it was like never for once did I feel bitter, jaded, or anger. I was just at a loss for feelings, at a loss for words, at a loss for emotion.”

Ultimately, cooler heads prevailed, with R-Truth returning to WWE at Money in the Bank last year, continuing an angle with John Cena. WWE: Unreal Season 2, featuring R-Truth and Triple H, is also streaming now on Netflix. You can check out Robert Leighty Jr.’s official report of “The Truth” episode RIGHT HERE.
