Last week, John Cena officially announced the Last Time Is Now Tournament, a 16-man competition to determine the opponent for his final WWE match. The bout will take place on December 13, 2025, during Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C. The company has not released the complete tournament bracket; instead, it has revealed that several rounds will unfold gradually throughout its weekly programming.

The tournament will begin on the November 10 episode of Monday Night RAW in Boston, John Cena’s hometown. The first-round matches confirmed include Sheamus vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev vs. Damian Priest. Additional announced competitors are The Miz, Jey Uso, and LA Knight. More than half of the participants remain undisclosed, with WWE keeping the names under wraps.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE’s creative team has deliberately kept the lineup secret to generate interest and intrigue among fans. The audience continues to speculate on the final opponent, even if they work at a different company (via Wrestling Inc).

“Well, I mean, they’re trying their best to try and draw a rating, based on the idea that it’s going to be Edge. That’s the best they can [do].”

While appearances by stars such as Adam Copeland (AKA Edge) or Chris Jericho are unlikely due to AEW contracts, the possibility of NXT entries or returning alumni remains open.
