WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley recently reflected on her debut WWE match during an appearance on ESPN. Ripley made her televised WWE debut during the summer of 2017. She defeated Miranda Salinas in the opening round of the inaugural Mae Young Classic.

The Australian has since come a long way, winning multiple world championships on the main roster and various gimmick matches, and is the reigning WWE Women’s Champion. During a recent appearance on ESPN, Rhea rewatched some of the most iconic moments of her career. She first relived her WWE debut bout and recalled being very scared at the time.

Despite being scared and nervous, Ripley feels she did really well for someone who was “just a baby” at the time. Here’s what Rhea Ripley said:

Rhea Ripley on Her WWE Debut

“Oh, man, I just remember how scared I was. I was so scared. Like right before this match, they had, because it was at Full Sail University, they had these tables outside, where you through to go into Gorilla. They’re like little umbrella tables, and I remember sitting at the table, and I’m just like dry heaving. And I’m like, ‘I’m going to vomit. This is so scary.’ I was terrified. I was only 20 years old; I was just a baby. It was my first televised match, and I just wanted to do good.”

On If She Was Satisfied With Her Debut Performance

“I did, yeah! I definitely look back at it, and I go, ‘I was very innocent, and I didn’t know what I was getting myself into.’ But I did it, and I did well.”

Ripley will defend her title against Jade Cargill at Clash in Italy tomorrow night.
