Roman Reigns suffered a beat down at the conclusion of WWE RAW on Monday, as Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed beat down Reigns, CM Punk, and LA Knight. This led some fans to speculate that the Reigns beat down was a way to explain his upcoming absence to film the Street Fighter movie.

PWInsider reports that Reigns is set to spend four weeks on set for Street Fighter, but that his dates don’t begin until September 2nd, with him completing his filming work on September 26th.

So Reigns will remain available to WWE if needed up until September 2nd, though it remains to be seen if they use him again for now.

As noted earlier, Cody Rhodes also will be in the film, but he isn’t expected to be on set for as long as Reigns.

Cody will be playing the role of Air Force pilot Guile, a role which apparently won’t require him to be on set too much. Reigns is expected to play Akuma, one of the main villains.

NJPW star Hirooki Goto is also rumored for the role of sumo wrestler E. Honda in the movie.

The cast is also expected to include Jason Momoa, 50 Cent, and Orville Peck.

The film is based on the iconic 1987 video game, which led to the Street Fighter II sequel that became one of the most popular games in history.

The game was turned into a movie for the 1994 Street Fighter which starred Jean-Claude Van Damme. That movie was viewed mostly as a flop.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was released in 2009, and also failed to gain much traction.
