– Planeta Wrestling recently interviewed WWE Superstar Roman Reigns, who recently returned to WWE after a hiatus to get treatment for leukemia. Below are some highlights and audio for the interview.
Roman Reigns on his dream opponent: “You know, I get that a lot as far as my dream opponent. I don’t really have anyone to say or to narrow it down to at this point anymore because I’ve wrestled a lot of great character, a lot of awesome men. But right now, just where I am with my career, just being in the ring and being able to share that stage iwth anybody — obviously, someone who’s put some time in and there’s got to be some rhyme or reason why they’re there, but being able to share that moment with anybody, any performer, I think that’s a special moment because we all hold WrestleMania, whether it’s the main event or even the pre-show, just being a part of that Sunday is special. You hear about it all the time.”
“There’s guys who they just haven’t quite made it, and they’ve been in the pre-show or the Battle Royal. They just haven’t quite been in the match that they wanted or that they felt like they deserved. When they do get that, the sensation that you feel, the gratitude that you feel, is overwhelming. For me to get to experience that with someone who is going through that, I would really enjoy that. To be able to make a first for somebody, for someone who didn’t think they’d be performing at WrestleMania, and then they finally find themselves in that moment. For them to finally be able to look across the ring and see me, and to know that they’re sharing that moment with me, that would be really cool.”
Roman Reigns on how his perspective has changed: “I think that type of perspective has kind of changed for me. It used to be about all these giant moments and checking off these goal boxes and doing all these things on my bucket list. But now, I think one of the huge things for me is just slowing it down and living in the moment and just taking those few seconds that we have out there — those few minutes that we have out there — and just really enjoying them. And just letting my hair down and enjoying that moment, enjoying the process of going through it all.”
Roman Reigns on WrestleMania 36 going to Florida: “I think it’s great. It’s great for the state of Florida. As a Florida resident, someone who was born and raised in Florida, I’m so proud of our state and what we’ve done to put our markets on the map and showcase what we have to offer to the world. I think you’ve been able to see that over the past few years I think since 2012, we’ve had three different cities in the state of Florida host WrestleMania. I think it just goes to show the relationship that our state has with WWE and sports entertainment and just the type of location it is to put the biggest live event in the world, for Florida to showcase that, I think it just shows the relationship and the type of destination that Tampa is. I think it’s going to be a great opportunity for not only WWE to connect with Tampa and to connect with the Florida communities, but to also, to take advantage of the WWE platform and to show the whole world just what kind of destination Tampa is just what we have — all the different types of great culture and customs we have here in Florida to share with the world.”
