Sammy Guevara Reflects On Lack Of Regular AEW Appearances Of Late, Being In First AEW Dynamite Match,

Sammy Guevara hasn’t been on AEW TV regularly for a while, something he recently reflected on in an interview. The AEW star has worked a couple of matches on AEW Collision over the past couple of months including a World Title match against Darby Allin in May. But he has been more regularly on ROH TV, where he is a former three-time ROH World Tag Team Champion.

Guevara was interviewed by MuscleManMalcolm at PWJ No Days Off and asked him about his AEW TV presence, as well as being in the first AEW Dynamite match in 2019 against Cody Rhodes. You can see the highlights below:

On Being Part Of the First AEW Dynamite Match:

“Oh man. I mean, it’s history, you know? It’s something you dream about as a kid, being in these big moments. It’s the first time they’re seeing wrestling on the TNT channel for what, 19 years at the time? And the fact that like, Cody Rhodes vs. ‘Who? Sammy Guevara?’ At that time — you know, I did Triple A, did some Lucha Underground. But like, widely, nationally? Maybe not as known. So, the fact that I was given that opportunity was big, and I just was very happy I was able to live up to the moment.”

On When He’ll Next Be on AEW TV:

“Put in a word, tell Tony. [laughs] No, honestly man, that’s obviously not my call. But like, whenever they do decide to call, I think the last time I was on AEW was when I wrestled Darby [Allin] for the World Title. I was what, given a couple hours’ notice? I just tried to do the best that I could, you know? And so, anytime I go out there, I try to give you a show like you’ve never seen before, because that’s what I do. I’m Sammy Guevara, the Spanish God. You know, I think I’m the best.”
