On the latest episode of Everybody’s Got a Pod, WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase talked about recent comments made by Bret Hart, who stated that modern wrestlers could learn a lot from emulating his old-school style and not being a fan of Gunther’s chops.  You can check out some highlights below:

On Hart’s take about not linking Gunther’s chops: “I couldn’t agree more. I don’t give a s**t how good you are, you know. That’s the whole thing about pro wrestling. It’s something that you make something that’s not real look very real. And I was another guy. Like, I occasionally would hit somebody with a chop. But again, chops just weren’t — it was kind of like, if you were in a real fight would you back somebody up against the light post and hit him with a chop? Hell no! You’re going to hit him with your fist, you’re going to hit him with your forearm. You’re going to hit him with your elbow, and if you really got a hard head, you might even headbutt him. But you’re not going to chop him like a little girl. Hey, ‘m sorry, but I’m with Bret on that one. I am not a fan of chopping.”

On taking chops from Ric Flair: “Now okay, if you’re wrestling Ric Flair, you know. But I would just say this about Ric. Ric might use a chop, but he’s going to use it here or there. He’s not going to do it through the entire match. Or he might do — and a lot of times, what Ric did. Ric would set himself up. So he would chop the guy a couple times, and then he’d go to throw a chop and the guy would block it, turn Ric around in the corner and start chopping him. So he used a chop a lot of times as a way to turn it around.”
