During today’s AEW WrestleDream media call, Fightful reports that AEW President and CEO Tony Khan addressed Kota Ibushi, who recently suffered an injury during his match at last week’s AEW Collision TV tapings.
As noted, Ibushi suffered a broken femur during his match with Josh Alexander. Ibushi underwent surgery on the injury, and he’s reportedly expected to be out of action for up to two years.
According to Khan during today’s media call, Ibushi was planned to be in action at this weekend’s WrestleDream event. The executive went on to explain that Ibushi had just recently secured a new work visa as well. He added that Ibushi is doing well and is said to be in great spirits.
Khan went to visit Ibushi while he was in the hospital, giving Ibushi a handwritten note while he was recovering. Ibushi shared photos of Khan’s hospital visit on his Instagram account (see below).
Tony Khan wrote in his note to Kota Ibushi, “I wish you all the best in your recovery. Everyone in AEW respects you so much. Thank you, god bless you, Mr. Ibushi! Best, Tony Khan, AEW.”
It’s not said what match Khan had planned for Kota Ibushi at WrestleDream. Ibushi’s Golden Lovers tag team partner, Kenny Omega, teamed with Jurassic Express last night on AEW Dynamite, beating The Don Callis Family’s Hechicero, Josh Alexander, and Mark Davis.
The AEW WrestleDream 2025 pay-per-view event takes place at the Chaifetz Arena in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, October 18. It will be broadcast live on pay-per-view.
