A new report has some additional context on WWE censoring blood from the WWE Night of Champions replay on Netflix. As noted yesterday, Bron Breakker’s head got busted open during his cage match with Seth Rollins on Saturday’s PLE, and his head appears blurred in replays of the show. Some believed that, as the blood was not censored on ESPN Unlimited/Disney+ replays, the decision was made by Netflix; however, that is not the case.

PWInsider reports that WWE did the blurring of the blood in the match. In addition to some blurring, there were some instances during the match were alternate camera angles were used instead of the ones shown live in order to hide the blood. There is also at least once instance of WWE cutting to a crowd shot for a few seconds rather than showing the bloody action.

The report adds that the “Holy s**t” chants that broke out after Breakker was superplexed through a table were replaced by a “This is Awesome!” chant. Such audio edits have become a common practice in WWE replays on Netflix.

It is not currently clear why Netflix replays are censored while the ESPN replays are not. It is worth noting that Netflix airings and replays are rated TV-PG, while the ESPN Unlmited/Disney+ airings and replays have no TV rating.
