A new report has an update on the contract status of FTR and WWE’s potential interest in bringing the team back. Bodyslam.net reports that the AEW tag team are approaching the option year of their contract. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler signed new deals with the company in April of 2023.
According to Bodyslam, the 2023 contracts were for four years. That means the team are now approaching their option year. Sources told the site that FTR believe their value and consistency in recent years should put them among the top-paid acts in the company.
The report adds that there has been “preliminary interest” from WWE communicated to the team through mutual contacts. To be clear, there is no indication that the team might be leaving AEW; the report only notes that WWE has expressed interest in them.
FTR are three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions and lost the titles to Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at AEW Double or Nothing last night.
Cash Wheeler said in May of 2023 that the two would be “probably done” as full-time performers after their current deal expires. It’s not known whether that is still their mindset or not.
