Update on Kit Wilson’s Singles Career

While everybody was talking when Zack Ryder returned to WWE under his real, indie-established name and gimmick of Matt Cardona, some may have also made note of his opponent. Kit Wilson isn’t someone we normally see as a singles wrestler, though he did face Carmelo Hayes one on one in November, and Sheamus and Montez Ford prior to that. Usually, he’s one half of the haircare-loving duo of Pretty Deadly, along with Elton Prince. The duo are former NXT Tag Team Champions and former NXT UK Tag Team Champions.
Has it all been simply a case of making a tag wrestler look like a jobber for TV squash matches? Probably not, as it turns out. The reason Wilson wrestled singles, and will continue to do so in the immediate future, is, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that Elton Prince’s previously known injury is a “significant” neck injury that’s more severe than expected.
Neck injuries take their time to heal, so Prince may be out for a while. Luckily for Wilson, it seems WWE doesn’t just want to forget about him until Pretty Deadly can return. With new theme music and ring gear, he can and will work singles matches.
According to Wilson, Pretty Deadly will never break up.
